Colorado-UCLA Notes

Colorado narrows UCLA’s lead in the series to 11-5 and has won three-straight over the Bruins its longest win streak in the series. The Buffaloes have now won back-to-back games over the Bruins in Los Angeles after losing first eight all-time meetings.

Colorado picks up its fourth true road win of the season (4-6) and second in Pac-12 play. The Buffaloes were just 1-10 on the road in 2017-18, with the lone win coming at UCLA. Despite last year’s mark, the Buffaloes have won at least four road games in three of the last four and six of the last eight seasons.

Colorado’s 84 points are its most in regulation Pac-12 road game. The Buffaloes have scored more than 84 points in overtime, several times, last in a 91-89 overtime loss at Washington State on Jan. 21, 2017. Colorado’s last regulation conference road game with more than 84 points was in its final game in the Big 12, a 95-90 loss at Iowa State on Mar. 2, 2011.

Colorado’s 22 assists are a season high and most since dishing out 25 vs. Stanford at home on Mar. 2, 2017. It’s the most on the road since recording 23 at Texas A&M on Feb. 28, 2004.

Colorado’s 13 3-pointers are its second most on the season (14 at Air Force) and the .542 percentage (13-24) is a season high. The Buffaloes had been just 9 of 40 (.225) the last two games and overall just 29 percent during conference play.

Colorado shot 93.8 percent from the line, a season-high. The Buffaloes are 39 of 44 from the line over the last two games (.886) after shooting just 23 of 39 (.590) in the two games prior to Oregon.

Shane Gatling (28 points, 5 assists, 3 steals, 7-9 3FG) career and team season-high 28 points. His seven 3-pointers tied for the third most in a single game in team history. It was the 14th time a CU player has made seven in a game, but the first since Richard Roby against Kansas State on Feb. 26, 2005. He made his first six before finishing 7 of 9. Much like the Utah game where he scored all his then-personal best 21 points in the second half, 22 of his 28 came after the intermission.

Tyler Bey (16 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks) recorded his second-straight double-double, eighth of the season and 10th of his career. He has double-figures in rebounds for the 11th time in the last 17 games.

McKinley Wright IV (12 points, 8 assists) dished out his most assists this conference season and the most since having nine vs. UIC. He didn’t have more than four assists in a game since his shoulder injury in the Washington game. Wright moved into sole possession of 15th in career assists (281) and sits just one behind Chauncey Billups who had 282 from 1995-97.

D’Shawn Schwartz (15 points, 6-10 FG, 3-7 3FG) hit his first two 3-point attempts and scored Colorado’s first eight points of the game. Scored in double-figures for the ninth time this season. Had just 10 points on 3 of 11 shooting the previous two games.
