Since you can't physically be in the stands to support the Buffs, get your Buff fan cutout today! You can buy one for yourself, a family member, friends or your pets!

Fan cutouts will be up for Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball and Volleyball. At the end of the Volleyball season, CU Athletics will contact every fan that purchased a fan cutout with details on how you can pick up your fan cutout.

Cutouts are available throughout the season, while supplies last. Purchase cutouts by the following dates to ensure they are in place by the first game. Please allow a minimum of 5 business days for CU Athletics to print and place your fan cutout(s) in the stands at the CU Events Center.

GET YOUR PHOTO READY FOR APPROVAL

What to wear in your photo:

  • Put on your favorite CU branded attire. No third-party branding, including on apparel and in photo backgrounds. No attire or other branding of NCAA schools or sports teams other than the University of Colorado Buffaloes.
  • No commercial advertising, including company names, apparel brands, hashtags, social media handles, phone numbers, logos, slogans or other branding.
  • No political statements, logos, slogans or other political content.
  • Wear gear that does not blend in with your background
  • If you wear glasses or a hat, make sure to avoid glares, flashbacks, and shadows.

Where to take your photo:

  • Avoid backlighting by finding a light source and directly facing it.
  • Make sure you have appropriate lighting for your photo.
  • Bright lights behind you including windows, lights or mirrors will not provide the best results.
  • Solid-colored backgrounds work best.

How to take your photo:

  • 1 person per photo
  • Do not take a selfie. Have someone else take your photo for you or set a timer on your camera
  • For the best results, stand 3-4 feet from the camera
  • Position the camera at eye-level, frame yourself from the waist-up, and include some space around your head and shoulders
  • Take the photo in a vertical (portrait) format, and make sure it is formatted in the largest file size possible (must be at least 1 MB)
  • Don’t raise your arms above your shoulders or outside of your body width. They will be cropped out
  • You can hold a sports-related sign or prop (ball, foam hand, etc.), but please make sure to keep it inside your body width

TIME TO SUBMIT YOUR PHOTO

Double-check your photo:

  • Ensure that you, your family, and/or your pet’s photo(s) adhere to all of Colorado Athletics’ photo submission guidelines
  • Ensure that you will be happy with the photo(s) you submit all season long.

Once your photo is ready:

  • Navigate to the "Submit your Buffs Fan Cutout photo today!" email
  • Click on the included link to the submission form
  • Have your customer number ready – you’ll find this in the confirmation email referenced in the Step 1 tab
  • Upload your photo in the applicable space. Remember that it must be over 1 MB.

LOOKOUT FOR APPROVAL

Once you’ve submitted your photo, Colorado Athletics staff will approve all photos prior to printing and seat placement at the CU Events Center. Please allow Colorado Athletics staff 24-48 hours to review your submission(s). Fans will receive an email from cupromos@colorado.edu confirming or denying approval. Once your photo is approved, you’re all set! Colorado Athletics will determine the exact placement of fan cutouts and will communicate section locations prior to the next game.

The following images will not be approved:

  • Selfies
  • Group photos of 2 or more people and/or pets
  • Blurry images
  • Photos that do not adhere to the cutout guidelines
  • Commercial advertisements including slogans, websites, and phone numbers.

Colorado Athletics reserves the right to refuse any photo that is contrary to the Colorado Athletics Fan Code of Conduct and Pac-12 or NCAA sportsmanship principles. Purchasers whose images are not approved will receive notification and further details directly from Colorado Athletics.

*Once produced, photo cutouts are non-refundable.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE BUFFS FAN CUTOUTS ONCE THE 2020-21 SEASON IS OVER?

At the end of the season, fans will have the opportunity to pick up their cutouts at the CU Events Center (cutouts will be available for pickup only; no cutouts will be mailed or delivered). At that time, further details for pickup and specific instructions will be communicated to fans who purchased cutouts.

I just purchased a Buffs Fan Cutout but I did not get to submit a photo. What does this mean?
This means you’ve done everything correctly. You will upload your photo through a form that Colorado Athletics will email to you separately after the initial purchase process. Please see below for more details. If you haven’t received your form within 2 business days, please contact cupromos@colorado.edu. 

I just purchased my Buffs Fan Cutout. When should I expect to receive the email with the link to submit my photo?
Fans will first receive a confirmation email directly after purchase, and then they will receive a separate email after purchase with a link to the photo submission form, allow at least 2 business days. Your confirmation email is not the email that will contain the photo submission form link. Please make sure to check your spam folder as well as all pre-categorized folders (Gmail users, please make sure to check the “Promotions” folder). If your email is still not there after 24 hours, please reach out to cupromos@colorado.edu, and we will be happy to help you out.  You should add updates@cubuffs.fan-one.com to your address book or safe senders list to make sure you get your upload email.

I’m trying to complete the photo upload form, but I cannot find my customer number. Where can I find this information?
Fans can find their customer number on the confirmation email they receive from cutix@colorado.edu directly after purchase. 

Are the Buffs Fan Cutouts refundable should I change my mind?
No – all sales of Buffs Fan Cutouts are final.

Can the photo I submit be of my pet instead of myself?
Yes! Pets are welcomed. Please make sure your pet’s photo still adheres to our photo submission guidelines.

How will I know if my photo has been approved?
Colorado Athletics will send you confirmation of approval by email once our staff has reviewed your photo submission. Please allow us 2 business days to approve your photo. If your photo has not been approved, we will also notify you of this by email and ask for a resubmission. 

If I decide I don’t like the photo I submitted, can I send in a new one?
No; please ensure that the photo you upload not only meets all of our guidelines, but that it is also the photo you will be happy with all season long. The only instance that you will be able to resubmit a photo is if Colorado Athletics reaches out to you directly due to issues with your initial submission.

What happens if my photo is not approved?
Colorado Athletics will notify you directly by email and ask for a resubmission.

Will I receive the location of my Buffs Fan Cutout inside the CU Events Center?
Colorado Athletics will not confirm exact locations of these fan cutouts. We will do our best to email a group picture or video of the fan cut-outs to those who have purchased one. 

Can Colorado Athletics send me a picture of my Buffs Fan Cutout up-close once it is placed?
No. Colorado Athletics is unable to accommodate special requests for photos of cutouts in the stands.

Will I see my Buffs Fan Cutout on TV?
Fan cutouts are not guaranteed to be visible via television and/or other media outlets. 

Can I make a special request for where my Buffs Fan Cutout is placed?
No. Colorado Athletics reserves the right to determine exact placement of each cutout inside the CU Events Center and will not be able to accommodate special requests.

How long will the Buffs Fan Cutouts remain in place inside of the CU Events Center?
Each cutout will remain in place for each home game of the 2020-21 basketball and volleyball seasons.

What will happen to my Buffs Fan Cutout at the end of the season?
At the end of the volleyball season, fans will have the opportunity to pick up their cutouts. Please note, cutouts will only be available for pickup and will not be mailed or delivered. CU Athletics will contact fans who purchased a fan cutout with details on how you can pick up your fan cutout.
