Colorado-Kansas State Notes

Colorado begins the season with a 2-0 record for the fifth straight season. It’s the first time since 1960-61, that the Buffs have started 2-0 with both games being away from Boulder. That season started with three straight wins away from Boulder beginning with back-to-back wins at Arizona – Colorado’s next opponent – and a third at New Mexico.

Colorado recorded its eighth win when trailing by 12 or more points since the 2017-18 season – marking the time of this year’s senior class. The Buffaloes trailed 22-9 with 9:37 left in the first half before erasing that deficit with a 14-0 run and 67-36 over the final 30:23.

Colorado improves to 98-31 (.760) in nonconference games under head coach Tad Boyle, including a 51-14 mark (.785) since the beginning of the 2014-15 season.

Colorado has the second-best November record since 2017-18 in NCAA D1 at 18-1, Virginia lost today, but is 22-1 in that same span.

Colorado made 32 of 36 free throws (.889) in its two games in Manhattan.

Colorado won for the fourth straight time against Kansas State, albeit the first meeting since 2011. KSU’s lead in the series is 96-48. Colorado’s four-game run is its best over KSU since 2003-05. The 18-point win is Colorado’s best at Bramlage since a 70-51 win on Mar. 4, 1995.

McKinley Wright IV (24 points, 10-16 FG, 5 rebounds, 5 assists) became the 13th CU player to eclipse 1,400 points and now with 1,414, 14 behind Michel Morandais (2000-04) for 12th on the Buffs’ all-time list. Wright tied his career high with 10 field goals made, hitting that figure for the third time (vs Dayton, 12/21/19, vs S. Dakota State, 12/15/17). Recorded his 19th career 20-point game and his fourth in a row dating back to last year.

Eli Parquet (9 points, 4 rebounds, 2-3 3FG) recorded a career-high in points. Hit a pair of 3-point field goals, matching a personal best. He has six 3-point field goals in his last four games dating back to last year; he had just 16 in his first 52 career games.
