Colorado-Utah Notes

vs
Eastern Washington

Nov 8 (Sat)

2 p.m.

Colorado drops its first home game of the season (6-1) falling to 34-6 at the CU Events Center over the last 40 games.

Colorado had a season-high 13 3-point field goals (13 of 28) and have made 29 of 59 over the last three games (.492). The 13 3-pointers were the Buffaloes’ most since hitting 17 vs. Iona on Dec. 29, 2019 and the most against a conference opponent since hitting 13 at UCLA on Feb. 6, 2019. Colorado had made 10 in the first half, the most since hitting 11 in the second half of that Iona game. The 28 attempts are also a season high.

Colorado had season-lows in free throws made and attempted (5 of 6). It was the first game the Buffaloes hadn’t made at least 10. The five free throws were the Buffs’ fewest since going 5 of 6 vs USC on Feb. 20, 2020. The six attempts are the fewest since six at Oregon (Feb. 13, 2020) and the fewest at home since having only four against Utah on Jan. 8, 2016.

The Buffaloes have shot at least 80 percent from the line in 13 of 18 games. CU’s nation-leading free throw percentage dipped slightly to 84.1.

McKinley Wright IV (15 points, 4 assists, 25 minutes) moved into second in career minutes played at 3,871, passing Jay Humphries who played 3,864 from 1980-84. He had two rebounds, moving into 24th all-time at 584 and is now 16 rebounds from becoming the first Pac-12 player to reach 1,600 points, 600 assists and 600 rebounds. Hit three 3-pointers, bringing his total to 122, passing Chauncey Billups for 16th on CU’s all-time list. Wright registered his 116th career start, tying Richard Roby (2004-08) for fifth all-time.

Jeriah Horne (10 points, 5 rebounds) scored double-figures for the 11th time this season. He is now seven points away from reaching the 1,000-point milestone for his collegiate career.

Keeshawn Barthelemy (5 points, 6 assists) career-high in assists, leading the Buffaloes in that category for the first time this season. He’s the first Buffalo other than McKinley Wright to have at least six assists in a game since Tyler Bey had six against Wyoming on Nov. 24, 2019. It marked just the 14th time in the last 117 games that someone other than Wright led the Buffaloes in assists.
