Colorado’s win over No. 24 Texas A&M gives the Buffaloes two wins over ranked teams away from home for the first time since 2012-13. CU defeated #16 Baylor in Charleston, S.C. on Nov. 16, 2012 and later that season won at Oregon on Feb. 9, 2013.
It marked the first time since 2016-17 that the Buffaloes have won their first two games of a season against ranked opponents. CU beat #22 Texas on Nov. 22, 2016, in Brooklyn and a couple weeks later defeated No. 13 Xavier at home on Dec. 7, 2016.
Colorado’s 103 points is a Myrtle Beach Invitational single-game record. Colorado’s 103 points are also its most against a ranked opponent. It’s the most points, in regulation, since scoring 104 against Longwood on Dec. 19, 2010. The Buffs had 112 points in a double-overtime win over South Dakota State on Dec. 15, 2017.
The 28-point margin of victory is CU’s highest against a ranked opponent.
Colorado’s 54 points in the first half are its most in the first 20 minutes since scoring 57 against Northern Arizona on Nov. 21, 2012.
Colorado’s 16 3-point field goals tied for the third most in one game. It’s the fourth time the Buffs have hit 16, last done against Arizona in the 2022 Pac-12 semifinals.
Colorado shot 57.6 percent from the field, its best mark since the Buffaloes hit 60.7 percent against Georgetown in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
KJ Simpson (30 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals) career high in points, field goals made (11) and steals. First 30-point game for the Buffaloes since McKinley Wright IV had 30 against South Dakota State on Dec. 15, 2017. His six steals are the most by a Buff since Tyler Bey had six against UC Irvine, exactly three years ago on Nov. 18, 2019.
Javon Ruffin (14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists) career highs in points, field goals made (4), rebounds and assists.
Ethan Wright (15 points, 5-6 3FG) CU highs in points and 3-pointers made. Hit at least five 3-pointers for the fourth time in his career.
