Colorado-California Notes

vs
Montana State

Nov 3 (Mon)

7 p.m.

Colorado sees a five-game winning streak come to an end. California narrows Colorado’s series lead to 21-18. The Golden Bears have won 15 of 18 all-time meetings in Berkeley.

With a win Thursday over Stanford, Colorado does salvage a split of the Bay Area. The Buffaloes have won at least one game on their last eight multi-game Pac-12 road trips.

Colorado was outrebounded for just the fourth time this season (36-23). The 23 rebounds are Colorado’s fewest since the Buffaloes had only 22 in an 82-79 win over Arizona on Feb. 6, 2021.

California’s 80 points are a team season high, breaking 70 points for just the second time this season (UT Arlington). The Bears had 39 points alone, and held their first halftime lead of the season (39-27). Cal scored just 43 two nights earlier in the loss to Utah.

Colorado forced 21 turnovers, a season-high for a Buffaloes’ opponent and the most since Northern Colorado had 21 on Dec. 14, 2020. It’s the most CU opponent turnovers in a loss since No. 2 Kansas had 21 on Dec. 7, 2019 in a 72-58 decision at Allen Fieldhouse.

Cal shot 58.0 percent, the most against the Buffaloes since Xavier shot 64.3 percent Dec. 9, 2017 in Cincinnati. The Golden Bears entered the game last in the Pac-12 in scoring (58.0 ppg) and shooting (.402).

J’Vonne Hadley (17 points, 8-11 FG) registered career-highs in points and field goals made. It was his sixth double-figure scoring game of the season. He was 8 for 11 from the field after having made just 8 of 22 the previous three games.

KJ Simpson (25 points, 10-20 FG, 5 assists) logged his third-straight 20-point game and the sixth of his career (all this season). Scored 16 of his 25 points in the final 2:06 of the game.
