Colorado improves its series lead over Cal to 21-17. The Buffaloes won for just the third time in 17 tries in Berkeley.
Colorado picks up its 17th win guaranteeing the Buffaloes will finish above .500 for the 11th time in Tad Boyle’s 12 seasons.
Boyle picked up win No. 250 at Colorado, leaving him 11 from Sox Walseth’s program record of 261.
Colorado improves to 30-25 in games away from Boulder since Feb. 2019. The Buffaloes are an even 9-9 in their last 18 regular season conference road games.
Its just the third time in the Pac-12 era Colorado has won two games on a single Pac-12 road trip:
2022 – at Oregon State (90-64), at Cal (70-64)
2019 – at UCLA (84-74), at USC (69-65)
2013 – at Oregon (48-47), at Oregon State (72-68)
In 2013 Colorado won its next game, for three in a row, at Stanford (65-63). A win Saturday would give the Buffaloes just their second three-game conference road winning streak since 2002.
Colorado was 21 of 24 from the line (.875) and has made 71 of its last 83 (.855)
Colorado held Cal to 37.7 percent from the field and outrebounded the Bears by 15 (43-28). CU improves to 8-0 this season and 80-5 in the Tad Boyle era when holding an opponent to 40 percent or less shooting and a rebound margin of plus-8 or better.
Jabari Walker (19 points, 15 rebounds, 6-6 FT) records his 14th double-double of the season, tying Wilky Gilmore (1959-60) for the 12th most in a single season. It was his fifth in a row, the most since Tyler Bey had five straight in 2018-19. He made all six free throw attempts, extending his consecutive streak to 27, the most since Spencer Dinwiddie had 33 straight in Feb. 2013.
K.J. Simpson (19 points, 5-9 FG, 8-10 FT) career high in points, recording his sixth career double-figure scoring game and second in a row. Set new personal bests in free throws made and attempted and tied a career-high in field goals.
Evan Battey (18 points, 6 rebounds) moved into 22nd in career rebounding (631) passing Brian Johnson who had 628 from 1977-81. Just two points away from becoming the 24th Buff to reach 1,200 career points.
