What did your scholarship mean to you? We asked our Board members and are sharing their testimonials:
"When thinking about being a scholarship recipient I felt and still feel the utmost gratitude, all of the goosebumps and to be honest, I am damn proud of myself.
I remember when I started to play club soccer and my coach told all of us that he always sent his players to D1, I had no idea what that meant and I didn't know that it was possible to pay for 4 years of undergrad through a sport. At 12ish years old, I just loved playing and didn't realize it was a key to the best experiences.
Over the years, the idea of paying for school through something that you just enjoy started to become feasible and the amount of work that goes into achieving that goal is only something that fellow student-athletes can relate to and hard to write about. When I finally received the scholarship, the magnitude of the blessing made me feel like I was floating and felt like my parents' investment in that part of my life started to pay off with the opportunity to play for CU. Representing my family, living out my dreams and earning a degree from CU kick started a life and a career to continue the legacy my parents worked so hard to establish. "- Bianca Jones
"Receiving a full-ride scholarship to CU for Volleyball was truly life changing. I didn’t realize it until after graduation of course, entering the workforce and better understanding financial opportunities & responsibilities. I was able to remove that stressor from myself and parents, to solely focus on excelling in school and in my sport(s)! I am so thankful to those that gave to me and allowed me to experience one of my favorite chapters in life thus far.
I was truly shocked to receive an athletic scholarship, especially being a late bloomer in my sport(s). There is no greater feeling than having the community back you and show how much they support your talents and future! "- Kelsey English
