- Records. UCLA now leads the series by a 13-5 count (5-4 in Boulder) … CU is now 83-44-2 in conference openers (5-7 in the Pac-12) … CU head coaches are 21-14 against their alma maters (Dorrell is 1-2 against UCLA) … Colorado is 0-4 for just the ninth time in its history, last doing so in 2006.
- Now it’s 18. Through four games, 18 different players have caught a pass for the Buffaloes – two more did today (TB Anthony Hankerson, WR Ty Robinson) – the record in a season is 19, set in 1999 and 2004.
FIRST CAREER STARTS Six players made their first starts for the Buffaloes today: DL Chance Main, QB Owen McCown, TB Charlie Offerdahl, WR R.J. Sneed, WR Chase Sowell and ILB Mister Williams.
► Three QB Starters in Same Season. This is the eighth time in the modern era (since WWII) that three quarterbacks have started games for CU in the same season. The list (*—true freshman):
1947 Dick Schrepferman (4), Don Evans (3), Harry Narcisian (2)
1969 Paul Arendt (5), Jim Bratten (4), Bobby Anderson (2)
1980 Charlie Davis (5), Randy Essington (2), Scott Kingdom (4)
1987 Sal Aunese (7), Mark Hatcher (3), Rick Wheeler (1)
1992 Kordell Stewart (9), Duke Tobin (1), *Koy Detmer (2)
2000 *Craig Ochs (7), Zac Colvin (2), Bobby Pesavento (2)
2012 Jordan Webb (9), Nick Hirschman (2), Connor Wood (1)
2022 J.T. Shrout (2), Brendon Lewis (1), *Owen McCown (1)
(It’s the quickest—four games—for three different starters; in 2000, three different players started at QB in the first five games.)
► Three True Freshmen Starters On Offense In Same Game. With QB Owen McCown, WR Chase Sowell and OG Van Wells starting on offense today, it was the first time three true freshmen started the same game on offense since a 28-24 win over Iowa State in Boulder on Nov. 8, 2008 (TE Ryan Deehan, QB Tyler Hansen, TB Darrell Scott).

INDIVIDUAL LINER NOTES
QB Owen McCown (42-26-1, 258, 1 TD, 116.6 rating)
► He made the earliest start in a season by any true freshman quarterback in CU history.

P Trent Carrizosa (4-184, 46.0 avg., 3 In20)
► With true freshman P Ashton Logan out due to illness, Carrizosa (a true freshman walk-on), it marks just the second time in CU history that two true freshmen have attempted at least one punt in any season. The other was in 1977: Lance Olander 18, Steve Doolittle 1. (The last punter who was a walk-on was Darragh O’Neill in 2011; he earned a scholarship by the next year.)
► In addition, his first punt traveled 51 yards (51 net), the second-longest first career punt by a walk-on (record: John Torp, 63 yards vs. USC in Boulder, Sept. 14, 2002; 63 net).
