- Records. TCU takes a 1-0 series lead; the back end of the home-and-home is in Fort Worth a year from today (Sept. 2, 2023) … Colorado is now 83-45-5 in season openers (133), which includes a 55-21-1 mark in Boulder; the Buffaloes had won six straight season lid-lifters ... CU is now 19-27 in Friday games and is 24-32-1 when wearing all black (3-2 in season openers).
- This-N-That. The last game delayed due to weather at Folsom Field was on Oct. 3, 2015 vs. Oregon (heavy rain and lightning); that 8:07 p.m. kick was delayed 61 minutes to 9:08, with the game ending at 12:31 a.m., the latest in CU home history (Oregon won, 41-24); tonight’s was delayed for 35 minutes due to lightning in the vicinity … CU sold out of its 14,000 student season sport pass allotment; officials are still selling season tickets … CU held the ball for 22:08 in the first half; TCU had three offensive possessions (the CU record is 24:43 at Oklahoma in the second half in 1993) … The Buffaloes wore the “block CU” on its helmet for the first time since the 1979 season; it was in honor of Cliff Branch, CU’s first player inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this past August 6; that was the logo on his helmet when he starred for CU in 1970-71.
- First Score of the Year. Sophomore PK Cole Becker’s 37-yard field goal marked the first time since 2009 that CU’s first score of the year was a field goal; that year, Aric Goodman’s 54-yard field goal got CU on the scoreboard against Colorado State.
-No Turnovers Again … and Again. CU did not have a turnover for its fourth straight season opener and dating back to last year, has just one in its last six games (a strip-sack of Drew Carter late against UCLA).
—97th game dating back to 1946 with none; CU is 62-31-4.
—CU under Dorrell now has nine TO-free games in 19.

INDIVIDUAL LINER NOTES
PK Cole Becker (1-1 PAT, 2-2 FG, 7 points)
► He jumped from 88th into a tie for 78th on CU’s all-time scoring chart with 74 points. After opening his career in 2021 with three misses, he opened this season with two straight makes.
WR Daniel Arias (4-66, 16.5 avg. receiving)
► He celebrated his 24th birthday Friday.
► He matched his career high with four receptions (he had four at UCLA last year), with the 66 yards second-most to the 70 he had against the Bruins.
► He moved from 99th to 90th in all-time receiving yards at CU with 490 (on 32 receptions).
WR Jordyn Tyson (2-26, 13.0 avg. 1 TD receiving)
► He became the first true freshman in CU history to catch a TD pass in a season opener when he hauled in a 23-yard throw from J.T. Shrout in the fourth quarter. Only three redshirt or second-year freshmen have done it (the last being Montana Lemonious-Craig against UNC last year).
► He almost joined another exclusive club: his second career catch went for a TD (only a handful of players in CU history had a score on their first reception).
QB Brendon Lewis (18-13-0, 78, 0 TD, 108.6 rating)
► He has now thrown 150 consecutive passes without an interception; that is the third-longest in school annals:

152 Sefo Liufau (nine games, Nov. 13, 2015 to Nov. 3, 2016)
