Colorado State narrows Colorado’s overall lead in the series to 91-39 and 37-29 in Fort Collins. The Buffaloes saw their three-game winning streak in the series end.
 
Colorado shot 54.5 percent for the field, marking just the eighth time in 106 games (98-8) in the Tad Boyle era the Buffaloes have dropped a game when shooting 50 percent or better. It was Colorado’s highest field goal percentage in a loss since shooting 55.8 percent (29 of 52) at No. 11 Arizona on Jan. 25, 2018.
 
Colorado’s 54.5 percent shooting was its best in a true road game since shooting 58.6 percent in a win at Air Force on Nov. 24, 2018.

KJ Simpson (30 points, 9-13 FG, 9-9 FT) second career 30-point game just one-point short of his career best of 31 set last season at Stanford. His perfect 9 of 9 from the field is his best – and team’s best – since his 11 for 11 performance vs. Stanford on Feb. 5, 2023. He had four assists, moving past Spencer Dinwiddie (2011-14) into 22nd place on CU’s career charts with 228. Simpson was 3 of 4 from 3-point range after making just 1 of 9 the previous two games.
 
Cody Williams (21 points, 8-12 FG) career-best scoring effort and first 20-point game. Scored all 21 in the second half, hitting 8 of 9 from the field.
