Colorado-Oregon State Notes

Colorado improved to 12-0 on the season at home, the team’s best start at home since the 1968-69 Big Eight Championship team won all 12 of its games in that title season. That team played its games at Balch Fieldhouse, so the current start is the best ever at the CU Events Center. In terms of overall home winning streaks, it’s the longest since a 12-game run spanning two seasons from Feb. 2 to Dec. 4, 2019.

Colorado shot 52.5 percent from the field, marking the 11th time this season shooting at least 50 percent, the most since the Buffaloes shot 50 percent 11 times during the 2010-11 season (38 games). Colorado is 10-1 this season, and 104-8 in the Tad Boyle era (since 2010-11) when shooting at least 50 percent.

Colorado’s 90 points are its most in conference play this year and the seventh time this season hitting the 90-point mark which ties for the second-most in team history (7-0 in those games). Overall, the Buffaloes have won 33-straight when scoring 90-plus points (last loss 96-91 in OT at Washington State on Mar. 7, 2015). Colorado’s seven games with 90-plus points are its most since the 2010-11 team had eight (7-1).

The Buffaloes moved to 9-0 this season when at least five players score in double-figures.

Colorado hit its “Gold Standard” of holding its opponent to 40 percent or less from the field and having at least an 8-rebound advantage on the boards. Oregon State shot 33.3 percent (20-60) while the Buffaloes outrebounded the Beavers by 10 (41-31). Colorado is 89-6 in the Tad Boyle era (5-0 this year) when hitting those marks.

Colorado’s 33-point margin of victory is its third-largest in the Pac-12 era trailing only a 40-point win over Utah on Dec. 31, 2011 (73-33) and a 39-point win over the Utes on Jan. 12, 2020 (91-52). The 90 points scored is also the most in a regular season conference game since a 90-64 Buffs win at Oregon State on Feb. 15, 2022. It’s the most in a home conference game since that Utah game in 2020.

Colorado’s eight turnovers matched a season-low (USC). The Buffs entered the game averaging 13.5 turnovers per game on the season but over the last three that number has dropped to 9.3 per game (28 total).

Colorado’s 14-5 overall record is its best 19-game start since the 2020-21 NCAA Tournament team was also 14-5.

Assane Diop (10 points, 4 rebounds, 3-4 FG, 4-4 FT) career highs in points, rebounds, field goals made and free throws made & attempted and minutes played (16:01). He becomes the 10th different Buffalo to score in double-figures this season.

Tristan da Silva (19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 asst, 6-10 FG, 6-7 FT) led the Buffaloes in scoring for the fifth time this season and 22nd time in his career. Averaged 7.5 rebounds on the weekend and is averaging 6.3 over his last four. Rebounded with a 6 for 10 shooting night after making 9 of 25 over the previous two games.

Cody Williams (16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 6-10 FG, 2-3 3FG) matched his personal best six rebounds (Florida State). Averaged 19.5 points and shot 69.6 percent (16-23) in the two home games this week.

Redshirt sophomore walk-on Jack Pease made his first appearance of the season (third overall in his career) grabbing his first two career rebounds and first assist.
