Ralphie running 2nd half vs OSU 2023Ralphie VI was born on Monty Maginnis’ ranch in Nebraska in May 2020 and was rejected by her mother. Maginnis rescued the calf and was able to put her on a beef cow who allowed the buffalo calf and her own calf to nurse for a short time. The Isham family learned of the calf and generously purchased her from Maginnis to donate to CU with the hope that she would be a good fit for the next Ralphie. Her nickname, Ember, was selected through a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the program. Fans were able to donate to vote for their favorite nickname and Ember emerged above Blitz, Sixer, and Tini

Ember proudly served as Ralphie VI for four football seasons (2021-2024) before it became clear that her interest in running had waned. Ember will now transition to a companion buffalo role, living with Ralphie V and VII on their ranch. Due to an indifference to running, typical of many mammals both four-legged and two-legged, it was determined that it was in Ember's best interest, based on her disposition, to focus on relaxing strolls on the pasture, which is her favorite hobby.

"Ember has been excellent in many aspects of her role as Ralphie, but she's happiest relaxing on the ranch and we want to be respectful of her wishes," said Taylor Stratton, Director of the Ralphie Live Mascot Program. "She will continue to get the same top level of love and care that all of our Ralphies receive and will enjoy socializing with Ralphie V."
