Career: Finished his career ranking seventh in 3-pointers made (156) and attempted (432), ninth in games played (129), 17th in minutes (3,169) and 34th in scoring (1,026) on Colorado's all-time lists.
2020-21 (Senior): Averaged 9.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists over 30 games with 29 starts. He led the Buffaloes in 3-point percentage hitting 46 of 115 from downtown. His .400 mark from beyond the 3-point arc is the seventh best single-season performance in team history with a minimum 100 attempts. Was second on the team in 3-pointers made while ranking fourth in scoring and total assists (38) and fifth in rebounding. Ranked eighth in 3-point percentage and 15th in 3-pointers made on the Pac-12 charts. Tallied three double-doubles with all three coming in Pac-12 road contests. His first was a 13-point, 10-rebound performance at USC (12/31). He then had 15 points along with a career and team season-high 15 rebounds in the win at Utah (1/11). His final double-double was a 16-point, 11-rebound effort at Oregon (2/18). Rounded out his Colorado career with a fantastic postseason, averaging 12.0 points and shooting 61 percent from 3-point range (14-23) over five games in the Pac-12 and NCAA Tournaments. Scored the game-winning points in the Pac-12 semifinal against USC (3/12) - a put-back dunk off a McKinley Wright IV miss in a tie game with three seconds remaining. Scored 11 points hitting 3 of 4 from downtown in the Pac-12 Championship game against Oregon State (3/13). In the NCAA Tournament win over Georgetown (3/20), he scored 18 points and tied his career-best with five 3-pointers made. In the process, he became the 37th Buffalo to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Scored in double-figures 13 times with a season high of 18 against Georgetown and also in the home win over California (1/14). He opted to continue his career as a graduate transfer at George Mason with the extra year of eligibility granted to all NCAA student-athletes in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2019-20 (Junior): Averaged 9.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists, starting in 31 of 32 contests. Led Colorado in 3-point field goals made (51) and attempted (139). Ranked third on the team in scoring, assists (44) and steals (23) and fifth in rebounding. Overall ranked 14th in the Pac-12 Conference in 3-point shooting at 36.7 percent. Hit the "shot of the year" as his 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Buffaloes an overtime win over No. 13 ranked Dayton in Chicago (12/21). Finished with a season-high 20 points against the Flyers, matching a career-best and team season-high five 3-point field goals while shooting 7 of 11 from the field overall (.636). Matched that 20-point outing with his top effort in Pac-12 play against Stanford (2/8) setting career bests in free throws made (7) and attempted (9). Recorded 18 of his season's 23 steals during the Pac-12 schedule which tied for second on the team during that span. Had a career-best four steals in the home win over Washington (1/25). Scored in double-digits 18 times and led the Buffaloes in scoring in five games. Had nine games with at least three 3-point field goals. Set a career-best in rebounding with nine at Colorado State (12/13) and matching that number against Iona (12/29).
2018-19 (Sophomore): Saw his production increase across the board, especially in the home stretch of his sophomore campaign. Averaged 9.2 points and 3.7 rebounds while starting 35 games on the wing - he missed the opener due to a minor NCAA rules infraction during the previous summer. He was third on the team in 3-poniters made (41), fourth in scoring and assists (46) and fifth in rebounds. With Namon Wright missing the second half of the season with a foot injury, Schwartz stepped up to play the bulk of the minutes at his position. He was second on the team in overall minutes at 1,008 (28.8 mpg) and played at least 33 minutes in each of the final nine games. Shot 78 percent from the free throw line overall (56-72), but upped that mark to 83 percent (38-46) during conference play, ranking fourth in the Pac-12 during that span. His two free throws with 14 seconds left at USC (2/9) helped the Buffaloes seal the win and their first road sweep of the Southern California schools. Scored a career-high 22 points with three steals in the home game against Washington (1/12). Hit 6 of 10 from the field and all six free throw attempts against the Huskies. Averaged 13.7 points in three Postseason NIT games, ranking second on the team. Scored 19 points aided by a career-high five 3-point field goals in the opening round win over Dayton (3/19). Overall, had 18 double-figure scoring games, leading the Buffaloes in scoring three times.
2017-18 (Freshman): Averaged 3.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in 13 minutes per game. He was one of just five Buffaloes to play in all 32 games and logged four starts. Shot 38 percent from 3-point range, making 18 of 47 on the season. Fourteen of his 18 3-point field goals came against Pac-12 Conference opponents and improved his 3-point accuracy to 44 percent during that span (14-32). He scored in double-digits twice, both coming in two of the bigger games of the season. He scored 10 points on 3 of 4 shooting and a pair of 3-pointers in the home win over No. 14/16 ranked Arizona (1/6). Matched that output with 10 points on a career-best four field goals in the Pac-12 Tournament win over Arizona State (3/7). Grabbed a season-best six rebounds on three occasions, the last in the regular season finale at Utah (3/3). Made his first collegiate start against South Dakota State (12/15), a nod to his effort and performance during practices leading up to that game. Finished with four points, two rebounds and one assist in 20 minutes against the Jackrabbits.
High School: A 2017 graduate of Sand Creek High School. Schwartz was an All-Colorado selection by the Denver Post and All-USA Colorado pick after averaging 25.7 points and 9.8 rebounds as a senior, helping the Scorpions to 19-6 record and a spot in the Sweet 16 of the Class 4A Tournament. A McDonalds All-America nominee, he earned Class 4A All-State honors by the Denver Post, PrepHoops, Basketball Colorado and the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA). A three-time All-Pikes Peak Athletic Conference and All-Area selection, Schwartz holds Sand Creek records for points in a game (50), season (617) and career (1,693). He also holds Scorpion all-time marks in 3-pointers (327) and rebounds (723). A consensus four-star prospect, Schwartz was an ESPN100 member, rated as the 69th best player in the nation and the top player in the state of Colorado. Rivals listed Schwartz at the No. 67 spot nationally while Scout had him at 89th and the 19th best wing in the country. Schwartz also lettered in tennis, playing first doubles.
USA Basketball: Schwartz was one of 18 finalists for the 2016 USA Basketball Men’s U17 World Championship Team. He finished as a runner-up in the 2016 USA Basketball Men’s 3x3 U18 National Tournament and participated in the 2015 USA Men’s Junior National Team October minicamp.
Academics: Graduated from Colorado in May 2021 with his bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing as well as a Certificate in Music Technology. Named to the 2018-19 Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team. One of four recipients (the freshman class winner) of the Byron R. White Leadership and Initiative Award, given to those student-athletes who have exhibited outstanding initiative and demonstrates a strong commitment to service to the CU and Boulder communities. An avid musician, he worked with CU's Academic Futures Department to submit a Community White Paper called "Building a Community via a Recording Space" where he asks the university to create a studio and recording space for students. He maintained a 4.1 GPA through four years of high school.
Personal: Born D’Shawn Michyel Schwartz on February 15, 1999, in Abilene, Texas. He is the son of Michael and Reshana Schwartz. He would like to play basketball in the NBA or overseas after college and become a successful music producer. Schwartz enjoys making beats (music) and some of his favorite artists include Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott and Jay-Z. His lists the biggest moment of his prep career as scoring 50 points against Thornton in the first game of his senior year, “It was an exciting moment because it was a sign of hard work paying off, along with setting the tone for the rest of the year. It was the most fun game I’ve ever played. I could not miss and I felt I could keep going all night.”
