2010: Indoor: DeMoor ran in three races during his first season with the Buffs. He started off with a sixth-place finish in the mile (4:35.21) at the Potts Invite (1/23). In his next race, DeMoor ran the top time in the 3k (9:01.60) at the Don Barrett Duals (1/30). He ended his season at the Husky Classic (2/13), where he raced to a time of 15:31.61.
Outdoor: Did not compete.
CROSS COUNTRY: DeMoor redshirted the 2009 season but ran the Rocky Mountain Shootout unattached. He finished 17th overall (26:31).
HIGH SCHOOL: DeMoor won the state 3A cross country championship in additions to titles in the 1,600-meter run and 3,200 his senior year at BVHS. He owns the division record on the Liberty Bell Course for Division 4, breaking times of former Buffs Jon Severy and Bret Schoolmeester. During his senior season, he was named the Tri-Peaks League Runner of the Year, was named All-Colorado and 3A all-state after winning the state cross country championship. DeMoor scored 31 points for BVHS at the 2009 state track meet when he won the 1,600 and 3,200 and recorded points in the 800 and 4x400-meter relay. As a junior he was a member of the state championship 4x800-meter relay team (8:11) and was second in the 3,200.
IN THE CLASSROOM: DeMoor is majoring in anthropology but is interested in history and English. A member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, DeMoor earned a GPA of 3.68 in his first semester at CU. He was a member of the National Honor Society and was the vice-president of the senior class. DeMoor also earned academic letters his junior and senior seasons.
PERSONAL: Joseph DeMoor was born on July 31, 1990 in Denver, Colo. His parents are Joe DeMoor of Buena Vista, Colo. and Wynne Warren of Denver, Colo. He has an older sister, Sarah and an older brother, Seth, who ran for the CU cross country and track & field team. He lists camping, long-boarding, snowboarding and traveling as his hobbies.
