2003 Track & Field: An indoor and outdoor distance runner, Kissane took part in the 1,500, 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs. During the indoor season she finished 11th in the 3,000-meter at the Air Force Classic (11:29.62) and seventh in the 5,000 at the Air Force Invite (19:59.98). Outdoors, Kissane recorded a season-best 5:13.63 in the 1,500-meter in a 17th place finish at the Jack Christensen Invite, and a season-high 11:17.02 in the 3,000-meter at the CU Twilight meet.

 

High School: A four-year letterwinner in track and cross country at Essex High School in Vermont, Kissane was a two-time Most Valuable Runner and all-state performer her junior and senior years. Her Essex track team won states during her junior and senior seasons and her cross country team won states as a sophomore. The biggest moments of her high school career were recording a 10:32 in the 3,000-meter and winning the Vermont Regional Championships in cross country her senior year.

 

Personal: Katie Kissane was born May 5, 1983 in Steamboat, Colo. to parents James F. Kissane and Judith F. Jamieson. She has a brother, David (9), two sisters, Abby (9) and Mya (2) and a stepbrother, Ben Rothenburg (18), a student at Villanova. She lists painting, biking, downhill skiing and cooking as her hobbies. She is a kinesiology major at Colorado with an interest in attending graduate school to obtain her M.D. in nutrition and become a nutritionist. Kissane chose Colorado over New Hampshire, Lafayette, Princeton and Massachusetts.
