2003:  Grgas-Wheeler captained the 2003 Big 12 Championship team in her strongest season of her career.  She came in as CU’s No. 6 runner in four races in ?03 before scoring in just her third race of her career when she came in as CU’s fifth runner, 38th overall at the national qualifying race in Ogden, Utah.  It bettered her sophomore year finish of 71st by 33 places.  She finished 28th overall in the season opening Rocky Mountain Shootout, and 88th at the Pre-National Invitational and a career best 37th at the Big 12 Conference championships before a career-best NCAA finish (202nd). 2002:  She had top-30 finishes in the first two meets of the season and finished as CU’s seventh runner at the Pre-National Invitational, covering the 6k Terre Haute course in 23:39.  She would match her team finishes in all three postseason races, finishing 52nd overall at the Big 12 Championships, 71st at the NCAA Mountain Region and in her first NCAA Championship race. 

2001:  Grgas-Wheeler ran the season opening Rocky Mountain Shootout and finished 22nd overall before redshirting the remainder the season.  

2000:  Grgas-Wheeler ran in three races,  christening her college career with a 13th-place finish in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain Shootout, running a Buffalo Ranch course pr 22:37.  Two weeks later she ran in the Pre-NCAA Invitational “B” race, scoring as CU’s No. 3 runner, 10th overall in the 104-runner field.  Her final race of the season was a 51st place finish at the Big 12 Championships in Boulder.

High School:  An All-Lake Superior Conference, All-Class AA and all-state and  her freshman through senior seasons, Duluth East’s fall teams were Minnesota state champions her freshman through junior years and runner-up her senior campaign.  She was a member of DEHS’s Lake Superior Conference and Class AA Championship teams for six years.    In The Classroom:  Grgas-Wheeler is a psychology major in Colorado’s College of Arts & Sciences.     

Personal: Kendall Shaun Grgas-Wheeler was born May 21, 1982 in Waldwick, N.J.  She is the daughter of the late Mirko Grgas and Patty Wheeler and stepdaughter of Tom Wheeler.  She has two older sisters, Kelly and Kara (Goucher), a six-time All-American and three-time NCAA Champion at Colorado.  She has two stepbrothers, Andy and Nate and one stepsister, Carrie.
