2005 Outlook: McCue has a great work ethic that has landed him varsity duty in cross country in the past and hopes to do so again on the track.
2004: An indoor 3,000-meter constant, at the Adidas Classic he set a new personal record by running an 8:33.25 to earn 14th. A week earlier he finished his race at the Air Force Classic in 9:05.69 to garner 11th. During the outdoor season McCue competed in the 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000-meter distances. He ran a 9:04.03 in the 3,000 at the Potts Invitational finishing third, and then a career-best 15:06.64 in the 5K at the Mt. SAC Relays to earn 29th place. His 10,000 (31:14.66) at the Stanford Invitational was the second-best on the team for the season, as he trailed only All-American Dathan Ritzenhein.
2003: McCue took 15th place in the indoor 3,000-meter at the Air Force Invite (9:08.29) before advancing to the Big 12 Championships and a 42nd place finish (8:51.46). In the 5,000, McCue placed 11th at the Frank Sevigne Invite (14:59.10). During the outdoor season he destroyed his previous indoor 3,000-meter best by nearly 23 seconds with an 8:44.99 for a 21st place showing at the Pepsi Team Invite. McCue also participated in the 5,000-meter at the Big 12 Championships, taking 19th place (15:15.49).
2002: As a freshman he competed indoors in the mile run, and 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs. He ran a 4:34.33 in the mile at the Colorado Invite, while he finished 34th at the Big 12 Championships with an 8:43.44 in the 3,000. His best time in the 5,000 came at the Husker Invite when he clocked a 15:09.88 to finish 13th. During outdoors, he was third at the Colorado Invitational in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:17.2. He also ran the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs outdoors, placing fifth at the Arizona State Invitational in the 3,000 by clocking an 8:48.32.
