Academic All-Big 12 (2010, 11)

2011: Indoor: Burrell won the unseeded section of the mile at the Air Force Invite (2/11), finishing the race in 5:16.86.   

Outdoor: Burrell recorded personal bests in the 1,500, 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs during her final season. She clocked a time of 10:34.39 at the Potts Invite (3/19) and placed second overall. Burrell won the 5k at the Beach Invite (4/16), finishing in 17:14.92. She also participated in the 5k at the Big 12 Championships, placing 22nd overall (17:29.34). Burrell's PR in the 1,500 came at the Big 12 meet. She placed 16th in 4:36.38.

2010: Indoor: Burrell ran in three indoor races, competing in the mile and 3,000-meter run. She clocked a third place finish in the mile at the Air Force Invite (2/13) with a time of 5:19.22. Burrell raced the 3k once at the Don Barrett Duals. She placed sixth with a mark of 10:48.28. 

Outdoor: Burrell ran a pair of personal bests in the 1,500 and 3,000-meter runs. She ran the 3k in 10:42.62 at the CU Invite (4/10). Burrell took third in the 1,500 at the Jack Christiansen Invite (4/24). She finished in 4:52.31.

2009: Indoor: Did not compete.

Outdoor: Burrell run in three races during the outdoor season. She started the season running the 800-meter run at the CU Invite (4/11). She finished in 2:28.95 and took 16th overall. Burrell's final two races were in the 1,500. She raced a season-best at the Front Range Classic (5/2) with a time of 4:55.02 and took seventh.

2008: Indoor: Burrell only competed in three races during the indoor season. She ran a time of 5:05.96 in the mile at the Big 12 Championship and placed 12th overall. Burrell also ran a pair of 3,000-meter runs. She took first at the Air Force Open (11:02.82) and was third at the Don Barrett Open (10:48.77).

Outdoor: Did not compete.

CROSS COUNTRY: (2010) Burrell raced twice for CU. She took 22nd at the Rocky Mountain Shootout and was 50th in the open section at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational. (2009) Burrell raced in a CU uniform for the first time at the 2009 Rocky Mountain Shootout. She finished 51st and was the seventh Buff to finish.

HIGH SCHOOL: Burrell is a four-time letter winner in track and three-time in cross country at Coronado High School in Colorado Springs. She owns the school record in the 1,600-meter run at 5:07, set in 2007. During her senior season, she took 10th in the state cross country meet and was fifth in the 1,600 and ninth in the 3,200. Burrell was a Gazette First Team selection for cross country and second team for track as a senior. She was the 2006-07 CHS Athlete of the Year. Burrell was also a standout in soccer at CHS. She earned four letters and was named to the 5A State soccer team as a freshman.

HIGH SCHOOL BESTS: 800-Meters: 2:20; 1,600-Meter: 5:07; 3,200-Meters: 11:22.

ACADEMICS: Burrell graduated with a degree in integrative physiology. She was a member of the Big 12 Commissioner's honor roll and had a GPA greater than a 3.0. She was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team in 2010 and 11. Burrell was a member of the National Honor Society in high school.

PERSONAL: Born on January 4, 1989 in Colorado Springs, Colo., Megan Burrell is the middle child of Greg, who ran cross country and track at Idaho State, and Cheryl Burrell. Her older brother Ian ran at the University of Georgia and her younger sister Kaitlin attends middle school. Burrell enjoys backpacking and climbing 14,000-foot peaks in Colorado.
