- Gibson broke onto the scene with 17 total touchdowns in his first five games against the best Texas high school football had to offer. He put up four touchdowns each against state-ranked powers Lancaster, DeSoto, and Rockwall.
- In his junior campaign, he helped North Crowley to an undefeated record. He caught 12 passes in 10 games totaling 217 yards and two touchdowns. Gibson added 36 carries for 325 yards and five touchdowns in the rushing attack.
- He was the fifth player to commit on a nationally recognized show. He announced on Thanksgiving on Nightcap hosted by Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson along with three other teammates.
