CU hosts Delaware on Saturday
BOULDER — Head coach Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes will take the field again on Saturday in search of their first win in the 2025 season, hosting the Delaware Blue Hens (1:30 p.m. MT).
Colorado (0-1) dropped its week one matchup to Georgia Tech at Folsom Field last Friday night. CU quarterback Kaidon Salter made his Colorado debut, completing 17 passes on 28 attempts for 159 yards. He threw for one touchdown and added a second on the ground. Salter's two touchdowns last week added to his FBS lead in total touchdowns. He now has 68 total touchdowns, breaking a tie with Clemson's Cade Klubnik.
Running back Micha Welch led the team in rushing with 64 yards on 11 carries, while DeKalon Taylor hauled in the Buffs' lone receiving score, for one of his three receptions.
Defensively, Reginald Huges led the Colorado with 13 tackles, and the unit forced three first-quarter turnovers.
Delaware (1-0) is making the jump to FBS football in 2025, joining Conference USA. The Blue Hens opened with a 35-1 win over Delaware State last Thursday. Nick Minicucci led Delaware with 270 yards passing, three touchdown passes and 28 completions. 10 different Blue Hens caught passes in the opener with Jake Thaw and Kyre Deplessis, leading the way with seven each.

Jason Benetti, Robert Griffin III and Alexa Landestoy will be on the nationally televised call on Fox.

Five Things to Know
- First Things First - Colorado and Delaware have never squared off, and in fact, this is the first game vs an FBS opponent as an FBS opponent for the Blue Hens, which opened up by defeating in-state rival Delaware State.
- LBs Impress - Despite the loss and giving up 320 rushing yards, both of CU's new starting linebackers made plays, with Hughes leading the team with 13 tackles and Martavius French recovering two fumbles, matching the CU record. French also had five tackles, including one for a loss.
- Teams Special – CU's special teams were just that, with Alejandro Mata (2-of-2 FG, 2-of-2 PAG), Buck Buchanan (5 KO, 5 TB) and Damon Graves (5 punts, 45.0 avg, 3 In20, 2 50+) all solid in the season opener.
- Ls and Ds – Coach Prime doesn't believe in captains, but he does believe in leaders and dawgs. Entering 2025, the dawgs are Jordan Seaton, Zy Crisler and Mata, and the leaders are Arden Walker and Preston Hodge.
- Interceptor – CB DJ McKinney became the third player in CU history to record an interception in three straight games, and he has recorded one in four of his last five games, as well. After not recording a pick in the first nine games last year, he now has four interceptions in his previous five collegiate games.
