  • Played three seasons of varsity football at Walnut Grove High School under head coach Tommy Allison. 
  • He ended his career with 5,118 rushing yards on 692 carries and 82 rushing touchdowns. Also added 68 receptions for 847 yards and nine receiving touchdowns through the air.
  • In both his final two seasons he went for over 2,000 rushing yards and 30 rushing touchdowns. 
  • Newton earned Team MVP his final three seasons.
