Connor Boyd is in his first year as graduate assistant for the defense, as he joined the Colorado staff on February 1, 2021.
Boyd, 26, came to CU from the University of Tennessee, where he as a volunteer defensive assistant for the 2020 season. He assisted with the outside linebackers, worked on weekly scouting reports and offensive breakdowns while also assisting with the scout team among his overall responsibilities.
He previously was a graduate assistant at Jacksonville State University for two seasons (2018-19). He assisted offensive line coach Kevin Revis, as he had a variety of responsibilities that included defensive breakdowns, weekly scouting reports, coordinating scout team meetings and assisting the defensive scout team in practice and helped identify future offensive line prospects. He helped coach a first-team All-American in B.J. Autry and three first-team All-OVC performers. JSU won the Ohio Valley Conference in 2018 with a 7-1 league record, and reached the second round of the FCS playoffs, finishing with a 9-4 mark while averaging 40.0 points per game.
Boyd earned his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Alabama in 2018, making the Dean’s List as a senior. He received his Master’s in Sports Management from Jacksonville State in 2020.
As an undergrad at Alabama, he spent three years (May 2015-May 2018) working as a student assistant in the football office. He was involved in a variety of duties, which included assisting offensive line coach Brent Key, charting assignments for the linemen, breaking down opponent video for scouting reports, and assisting coaches and analysts with daily on-field assignments. He also helped with recruiting, editing prospect videos, planning road itineraries and had responsibilities for events such as official visits and junior days (two of the recruiting classes he helped with were ranked No. 1 in the nation by 247sports.com).
He was born on April 14, 1995 in LaGrange, Ga., and graduated from Handley High School in Roanoke, Ala., where he lettered in football and baseball (he was a member of the 3A state champion football team as a junior in 2011). Out of high school he attended Southern Union State Community College for two years and coached baseball at Handley High School for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
