George Hegamin joined the Colorado football staff prior to the 2024 season as Director of Leadership and Engagement and was elevated to Offensive Line Coach prior to the 2025 season. In his current role, Hegamin works directly with the Buffaloes’ offensive line.
Before transitioning fully into coaching, Hegamin served as Senior Manager of Player Services for the NFL Players Association, where he provided career guidance, player advocacy and professional development support for current and former NFL athletes. His experience working closely with players at the highest level of the sport has shaped his mentorship approach and leadership philosophy within the program.
Prior to arriving in Boulder, Hegamin was an offensive line coach at IMG Academy, working with both the National Team and Postgraduate Team while also serving as an offensive line coach at the Under Armour National Combine and Elite Football Camp.
Hegamin was selected in the third round (102nd overall) of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys and played seven professional seasons in the NFL and World League. He appeared in 64 career games with 17 starts for the Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was a member of the Super Bowl XXX championship team in Dallas. In 1996, he earned All-World honors as a starting offensive tackle for the Frankfurt Galaxy.
A standout at North Carolina State, Hegamin earned Freshman All-American and second-team All-ACC honors in 1992 after securing the starting right tackle position. He left NC State early to enter the NFL Draft.
Born in Camden, N.J., Hegamin attended Camden High School, where he earned All-American honorable mention and first-team All-State honors as a senior.
