     Kolter Smith is his first year as graduate assistant for the offense, as he was elevated to the position in January 17, 2022. He works with offensive line coach Kyle DeVan assisting with film breakdown and coaching among several other duties.

              Smith, 24, was an offensive volunteer coach for the Buffaloes for the 2021 season, also working specifically with the offensive line. That followed three years as a student assistant coach, again working with the big guys up front.

              He graduated from CU with a bachelor’s degree in Business (Finance) in August 2020, also earning a certificate in the Business of Sports. He enrolled at CU in the fall of 2016 as a walk-on offensive guard and was on the team for two years before taking a medical. He remained with the program as a student coach for the next three years (2018-20) working with the O-linemen.Â

                He was born March 5, 1998 in Omaha, Neb., and graduate from Deer Creek High School (Edmond, Okla.), where he lettered in football. His hobbies include cooking and working on his truck (Ford 150). His father, Kyle, was a two-year starter at left tackle for the Buffaloes; during his five-year CU career in the mid-90’s, he was a part of Colorado teams that appeared in two Fiesta Bowls, one Cotton Bowl, one Holiday Bowl and one Aloha Bowl. He is married to the former Braelyn Smith.
