Scott Sacuskie is in his second year as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Colorado, as he joined the program on July 27, 2021.Â

Sacuskie, 42, came to CU from Johansen High School in his native Modesto, Calif., where for nearly 10 years (2012-21) he was the school’s athletic director, overseeing some 22 varsity sports, as well as the head football coach and weight lifting instructor.Â

He was a sports performance coach at Stanford University for almost four years (2009-12), where he first worked with CU’s current strength, conditioning and performance head coach, Shannon Turley. He started as a volunteer and was eventually hired full-time; he assisted with the football program and oversaw wrestling. He previously was a teacher (primary health and physical education) and assistant varsity football coach at East Union High School in Manteca, Calif., from 2005-11.

Sacuskie graduated from Portland State University with a bachelor’s degree in School Health Education in 2003. At PSU, he lettered as a tight end for head coach Tim Walsh. He earned his master’s in Kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University in 2010.

He was born Dec. 7, 1979 in Modesto, Calif., where graduated from Thomas Downey High School and was a letterman in football and baseball. He is married to the former Becky Mayer, and the couple has three boys, Noah (14), Owen (12) and Jonah (10).
