AT COLORADO: 2003 (Sr.)?He played in all 12 games, finishing sixth on the team in receptions with 16 for 260 yards, averaging a team-best 16.3 yards per reception.  He caught two touchdown passes, a 45-yard bomb from Joel Klatt late in the first half against Colorado State, and a 20-yarder from Klatt against Iowa State.  He caught three passes in three different games (Washington State, Baylor, Texas Tech) and caught at least one in nine games overall.  The coaches presented him with the Dean Jacob Van Ek Award (for academic excellence) following the season.  He had an excellent spring, hauling in nine receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown in the three main spring scrimmages, and he was one of 13 players to earn prestigious Spring Victory Club honors.

 

2002 (Jr.)?He played in all 14 games, starting 11 including the Alamo Bowl.  He caught 13 passes for 160 yards, fifth on the team in receptions and fourth in yardage, and added one reception for 11 yards against Wisconsin in the bowl game.0  He also scored his first collegiate points when he caught a 2-point conversion pass from Robert Hodge against Kansas.  His top game was in the season opener against Colorado State, when he had three receptions for 77 yards.  He also was in the mix to return punts, as he had one return for 12 yards.  He had a tremendous spring and earned a spot in CU’s regular rotation, also making CU’s prestigious spring Victory Club.  He led all receivers with seven catches for 120 yards and a touchdown in the three main scrimmages.

 

2001 (Soph.)?He saw action in seven games including the Fiesta Bowl (no starts), making his first career reception (for 23 yards) at Oklahoma State.  He started to come into his own during the spring, and caught six passes for 86 yards in the four full scrimmages.

 

2000 (Fr.-RS)?He saw action in one game, lining up at receiver for a few snaps against Oklahoma State.

 

1999 (Fr.)?Redshirted; did not see any action but practiced the entire year at wide receiver.  He was the Scout Team Offense award winner for the Iowa State game, as presented by the coaches.

 

HIGH SCHOOL?As a senior, he earned first-team all-CIF District, all-San Diego County, all-north county and all-Avocado League honors.  He garnered SuperPrep All-Farwest honors both pre- and postseason (he was the No. 141 player overall in the region and the No. 16 receiver), and PrepStar selected him to its All-Western team.  As a junior, he earned first-team all-Avocado League honors.  As a senior, he caught 30 passes for 692 yards and 10 touchdowns, rushed for 100 yards on eight carries, and scored three touchdowns on kick returns.  On defense (cornerback), he was in on 46 tackles, with a school record eight interceptions, 25 pass deflections, two quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery.  As a junior, he had 20 receptions for 450 yards and five touchdowns, and rushed three times for 30 yards.  Defensively (linebacker), he had 63 tackles, with seven for losses, 14 pass deflections, three forced fumbles and a school record five fumble recoveries.  His top games as a senior came in wins over Campbell (two interceptions, 60-yard touchdown catch and 60-yard punt return for a score), and against Carlsbad (two interceptions, one for 70 yards and a score, and a 60-yard TD grab).  Torrey Pines was 10-3 his senior year, winning the Avocado League and reaching the CIF championship game, and was 12-0-1 his junior year, winning the co-championship in San Diego's Division I under coach Ed Burke.  He also lettered in baseball, hitting over .300 with a league-leading 19 steals in earning all-Avocado League honors.

 

ACADEMICS?He is majoring in business (marketing) at Colorado.  He was named second-team Academic All-Big 12 as a sophomore (2001), and is a two-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.  An honor roll student in high school, he scored 1220 on the SAT, owns a 3.3 grade point average and was the recipient of a student-athlete award from the San Diego Union-Tribune.

 

PERSONAL?Born Oct. 8, 1980 in Summerville, N.J.  Hobbies include playing the guitar, snowboarding and running.  He has a unique pet: a monkey.  He was president of his junior class in high school.
