AT COLORADO: This Season (Fr.)-He originally signed with the Buffs as a member of the 2002 class, but he reported with serious high blood pressure and after just a couple of days, he returned home to San Antonio to improve his health. A year later, he has dropped 65 pounds and is much healthier, and he enrolled at CU for the spring semester and participated in spring practice. Enters the fall listed second at tight-side guard.

HIGH SCHOOL-As a senior, 360.com ranked him as the No. 2 recruit out of San Antonio, as he garnered first-team all-state and first-team all-San Antonio honors. He also earned first-team in his district (29-4A), while being invited to the Down Under Bowl for the summer 2002 in Australia that features the nation?s top high school seniors. He was also named to first-team all-district and all-city a junior. During his three years on the varsity squad, he made 181 pancake blocks and only allowed one sack (and that during his sophomore year). As a team captain his senior season, he led his team with 88 pancake blocks, helping clear the way for Roosevelt?s running back?s 2,070 yards and 26 touchdowns. During his junior season, he led his team in pancake blocks once again with 79. Top games included a 28-34 loss to Phlugerville his senior year, when he had 14 pancake blocks and his running back gained 215 yards and two touchdowns. Also, in a 38-28 win over Holmes High, he recorded seven pancake blocks while his running back scored three touchdowns and rushed for 115 yards. Under coach Glenn Hill, Roosevelt was 13-3 his senior year and 13-4 his junior year. Roosevelt won three consecutive district championships during his prep career, advancing to the state quarterfinals his senior year, and to the state semifinals his junior season. He was also on the track team as a freshman and competed in the shot put and discus events.

ACADEMICS-He is interested in communication as his major at Colorado.

PERSONAL-He was born Nov. 11, 1982 in San Antonio, Texas. His hobbies include playing basketball, working out and fishing. Interested in becoming a high school teacher, especially at the freshman level. First name is Michael, but prefers Mike.
