AT COLORADO: This Season (Fr.-RS)-Enters the fall listed first at one of the two cornerback positions, as he is coming off a tremendous spring. In earning the Most Improved Defensive Player award as selected by the coaching staff, he had 12 tackles, six pass deflections, three third down stops and an interception in the three main spring scrimmages. He was a preseason first-team all-Big 12 pick at corner by ATS Consultants (a preseason publication).

2002 (Fr.)-Redshirted; did not see any game action. He possibly was ticketed to play early, but an ankle sprain suffered in practice sidelined him for three weeks.

HIGH SCHOOL-As a senior, he earned Prep Football Report All-America honors (pre- and postseason), while SuperPrep tabbed him as a preseason All-Am and a post-year all-Southwest team member. SuperPrep ranked him as the No. 10 player in Louisiana overall (the first DB), with Rivals.com ranking him as the nation?s No. 16 cornerback, while Student Sports penciled him in at No. 24. He earned first-team all-district and first-team all-Catholic League honors as both a junior and senior. As a senior, he was in on 65 tackles and had a school record 17 pass deflections; he also had four interceptions, returning two of those for touchdowns, added three forced fumbles, two recoveries and two tackles for loss. He returned three punts for touchdowns on the year and averaged close to 24 yards per return. As a junior, he had 35 tackles, 15 PBU?s, six interceptions (two returned for TDs), two forced fumbles and two recoveries. He had 10 interceptions, 10 pass deflections and 30 tackles as a sophomore. Top games as a senior came in a win over Holy Cross, when he had two interceptions, returning one for a score; and in a win over St. Augustine, he had an interception and returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown. Archbishop Shaw was 8-3 his senior year, 13-2 his junior season (losing in the state final to West Monroe) and 8-2 his sophomore year under coach Hank Tierney. He also lettered four times in track (sprints and relays, with a career best of 49.6 in the 400) and once in basketball, as a freshman (he averaged 12 points and six assists, but didn?t pursue hoops).

ACADEMICS-He is majoring in communication at Colorado.

PERSONAL-He was born May 10, 1983 in Marrero, La. Hobbies include lifting weights, listening to music and simply hanging out with friends. Two older brothers played major college football: Mickey (Nebraska, 1987-90) and Vance (Colorado, 1990-94); Vance also played two seasons in the NFL (N.Y. Jets, Indianapolis) and is his position coach, as he was named CU?s cornerbacks coach in June 2002. A cousin (Derick Joseph) is currently a wide receiver at Tulane.
