AT COLORADO: This Season (Soph.)?He was switched to quarterback from safety for spring practice, as he offers a different look at the position. Though fourth on the depth chart entering fall camp, he could very well be utilized in games in certain situations. He was in for 19 such plays during spring practice.
2007 (Fr.-RS)?He was not be eligible for action as he was required to sit out the year after transferring to CU from the Air Force Academy. He was thus a regular on the scout team, and was the coaches’ choice for the scout team special teams player of the week for the Nebraska game. Joined the team in time for the spring semester and participated in spring drills.
AT AIR FORCE (2006; Fr.)?Redshirted at Air Force as he did not see game action; he signed with the Falcons as a quarterback and practiced at the position the entire season. A member of cadet squadron 23 while attending AFA.
HIGH SCHOOL?He earned first-team 4A All-State honors (Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News), and was the News’ choice as the offensive player of the year. He was a first-team All-Continental League pick as both a junior and senior and was the league offensive most valuable player both years. He has the 1,000-yard double as a senior, when he completed 83-of-151 passes for 1,547 yards and 15 touchdowns (with only five interceptions), while rushing 140 times for 1,171 yards and 12 scores. As a junior, he was an honorable mention All-State performer and was named the MVP in the state title game, when he completed 83-of-137 passes (61 percent) for 1,773 yards, with 18 touchdowns and just four interceptions; he also rushed for 549 yards and six scores. His two most memorable games were also two of his best, the state title games. His junior year, in a 45-29 win over Dakota Ridge, he completed all eight of his passes for 105 yards and two scores, while rushing for 81 yards and another tally. In a 51-21 romp over Grand Junction his senior year, he completed 10-of-13 passes for 168 yards and two TDs, while rushing for 43 and another score. TRHS was 26-2 his junior and senior seasons combined, scoring 1,137 points in the 28 games (40.6 per). He was quarterback to open his sophomore year, but broke a finger and finished out the year at linebacker. Under coach Joe Johnson, ThunderRidge was 14-0 his senior year and 12-2 his junior season, both times claiming the Colorado 4A state championship; TRHS was 10-4 his sophomore year. He also lettered three times in baseball (pitcher/shortstop), as he was a three-year starter and member of the state’s 4A champion team in 2004; he earned All-State honors his senior year. He earned two letters in track as he participated in sprints.
ACADEMICS?He is majoring in Business (Finance) at Colorado. He was a member of the National Honor Society in high school.
PERSONAL?Born Sept, 25, 1987 in Littleton, Colo. His hobbies include video games and sleeping. A grandfather (Frank Black) was an All-American linebacker at the University of Kansas.
