College? This Season (Sr.): He played in four of five fall tournaments following his reinstatement to the team, posting a 76.08 stroke average.  He had a consistent fall, recording three top 30 finishes, topped by a tie for 11th in the New Mexico Tucker Invitational (219, +3).  He tied for 27th in the final fall meet, as a final round 72 propelled him to the finish in Pepperdine’s Club Glove; that matched his best round of the fall, which he had scored his first round out of the gate.

2005-06 (Sr.-RS): The season turned into a redshirt year for him, as he was suspended from the team by Mark Simpson for violating team rules.  But he made good on all things the late head coach had required him to do to be reinstated, which he was by new CU coach Roy Edwards in July 2006.

2004-05 (Jr.): He finished second on the team with a 75.36 stroke average, as his spring norm of 75.13 was also the runner-up figure on the team.   He played in six of the eight spring tournaments (10 of 12 on the year), with his best finish a tie for 15th in CU’s Stevinson Ranch meet (222, +6).  He recorded his low round of the year the opening 18 holes in the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate, as he went on to shoot a 3-under 213, tying for 65th.  He was undone by an 82 in the second round at the Big 12 Championships outside of San Antonio, as he tied for 34th overall with a 232 total; he sandwiched a 77 and 73 around his 10-over second round.  He also shined in the Courtyard By Marriott Intercollegiate, as he tied for 40th but was just 3-over par with a 75-72?147 in tough weather conditions.  He played in all four fall tournaments, posting a 75.67 average as he struggled at the start and the end but played steady the middle two meets, when he owned a 72.67 mark (he was at 78.67 the other two times).  He tied for 31st at Stanford’s “The Nelson,” with a 215 score (+8 on the par 69 course), as he followed up a solid showing at the New Mexico Tucker Invitational (221, +5) where he tied for 33rd.  Eleven of his 12 fall rounds counted toward CU’s team score.

2003-04 (Soph.): He enjoyed a fine spring, recording a stroke average of 74.00, tied for third best in on the team; his 74.46 mark for the season ranked fifth best.  In seven spring tournaments he was 60 strokes over par (compared to 17-over for one meet in the fall), and he recorded his first tournament under par in his collegiate career when he finished minus-2 (214) to tie for eighth in the Purdue Boilermaker Invitational, also his first top 10 finish.  That followed a 13th-place tie in CU’s Stevinson Invitational when he was 1-over (217).  He broke through for his first round in the 60s in college play when he fired a 67 in the second round at The Maxwell; he tied for 15th overall there with a 211 score.  He was a model of consistency up until the NCAA Central Regional, with 14 of 18 spring rounds between 70 and 74 (three of the other four were at the tough Prairie Dunes in the Big 12).  But at the regional, the undoing for the every Buff there, he was hanging in with rounds of 75 and 77 the first two rounds before finishing with an 89 the last day for a 241 total.  He qualified and played in one fall tournament, tying for 48th at Pepperdine’s Club Glove Intercollegiate (233).

2002-03 (Fr.): He participated in six tournaments as a true freshman, one in the fall and the final five of the spring season after becoming a regular on the travel squad.  He finished the year with a 76.83 stroke average, sixth on the team, with his 75.67 average for the final round the fourth best among those with six or more meets played.  He closed strong in three straight spring tournaments: a final round 70 gave him a 221 total (+5) to tie for 27th at the Louisiana Classics; a 72 in the third round aided a 222 score (+6) to tie for 26th in CU’s Stevinson Ranch Invitational; and a 71 the last time around gave him a 224 total at Arizona State’s Thunderbird Invitational.  He tied for 36th at the Big 12 Championships, one of three CU frosh in the meet (out of the eight who played in it overall).  He struggled a bit his first time out of the gate with a 252 at The Prestige, as he was a candidate to redshirt until he made the travel team for the meet.

High School? He lettered four times in golf for coach Ed O’Conner at Pasadena’s La Salle High School.  He earned all-league honors four times (freshman through senior years), as he was a four-time league champion.  His 35.1 stroke average (for nine holes) as a senior set both a school and league record.  He also posted solid averages as a freshman (37), sophomore (36.4) and junior (36.1), and was his team’s and the league MVP on three occasions.  He also played basketball and soccer.

Other?2006: He won the Long Beach City Stroke Play Championship by six strokes, turning in a 67-68-66?201 effort, and placed third in the Los Angeles City Men’s Golf Championship (74-71-67-67?279, -9).  He was the local medalist for the U.S. Amateur Qualifying (Cypress Ridge, 68-66?134), but shot 78-79?157 in the U.S. Amateur at Chaska, Minn., and did not advance into match play.  Tied for 32nd in the Pacific Coast Amateur at the Olympic Club (Daly City, Calif.; 72-75-71-77).  2004: He was one of three players to shoot a qualifying-round best 67 in the local U.S. Open Qualifying, enabling him to advance to the sectional level; he then tied for 22nd in the sectional qualifying at Columbine CC in Littleton (77-73?150, +5).  He tied for 23rd in the stroke play portion of the U.S. Publinks (72-72?144), but lost in the first round of match play.  He tied for 33rd in the California Amateur, but won the Santa Anita Club Championship with a 69-65?134 effort.  2003: He tied for 10th in the SCGA Southern California Amateur, and won the Santa Anita Club Championship by recording a 71-70-73-62?276 (-8).  He also tied for 48th in the Scratch Players Championship (72-77-74?223, +7).  2001: He was an honorable mention AJGA All-American, and won the Golden State Tour event at the SCGA Member’s Club in windy conditions (73-68?141) as he ascended into the top 100 in the national rankings. He also won the AJGA Kroger Invitational in Batavia, Ohio (75-69-66?210, with the final round a course record) and the Toyota Tour Cup in Ontario, Calif. (75-66?141).  2000: He placed second in the Toyota Tour Cup at PGA West (72-75?147), and took sixth in the AJGA Preseason at Diablo Grande (75-73?148).
