Brandon White
  • Title:
    Assistant Coach

Brandon White is in his second year as the assistant coach of the University of Colorado men’s golf team, having been named to the position on September 1, 2013, just prior to the start of the college season.  He brought a quality resume featuring both his playing and coaching abilities to the Buffalo program.

White, 34, joined the Colorado staff from the University of Northern Colorado, where he coached the Bears’ women’s golf team for seven years.

In hiring White, CU head coach Roy Edwards said, "We couldn't be more excited to have hired Brandon.  He established himself as one of the top head coaches in women's golf and brings a very unique skillset to the position.  He was a successful golfer prior to coaching, both as a professional and college player.  He built UNC from the ground up into a very successful program.  We are very fortunate to add him to our team."

White led the transition for Northern Colorado from Division II to Division I, and eventually coached the UNC women to the 2012 Big Sky Conference championship.  That team also qualified for the NCAA regionals, and he was named the league’s Coach of the Year for his accomplishments.  His scholarship student athletes had a 98 percent graduation rate and produced five tournament and two Big Sky Conference champions.  He also started a booster club for the program and raised funds to build an indoor practice facility for both the men’s and women’s programs.

White graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine in 2003, where he lettered four years under coach John Geiberger.  He was the 2000 West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year, finishing ninth in the league championship, and would become a member of four Pepperdine WCC champion teams.  During his collegiate career, the Waves qualified for the NCAA regionals four times and the NCAA Championship Finals on two occasions (in 2000 and 2002, finishing eighth in the latter at Columbus, Ohio).

Following his college days, he competed twice in the PGA Qualifying School (2003, 2004), and played for two seasons on various professional tours beginning in the summer of 2003 through the winter of 2005.  He competed in over 40 professional events, mostly in Arizona and California as a member of the Grey Goose/Gateway Tour.

As a junior golfer, he competed in many national events, including the ESPN Junior Golf Tour, the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and the Junior World Championship.  He also had several top local performances, including a runner-up finish to his credit in the Colorado Stroke Play Championship.

He has also worked as a professional caddy on the Grey Goose/Gateway, Canadian and Nationwide tours, and caddied for one of his former UNC golfers, Carleigh Silvers, in the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open.

He was born March 13, 1980 in Ault, Colo., and graduated from Greeley (Colo.) Central High School in 1998, where he lettered four times in golf.  He set several school records, including career stroke average (73.4), and set the Colorado high school state record that still stands for the low 18-hole round, a 10-under par 62, at the Marianna Butte High School Invitational.
