College?This Year (Jr.): He participated in one fall tournament, tying for 94th at the New Mexico Tucker Invitational (scoring a 235, the same result he posted there as a sophomore).
2002-03 (Soph.): He saw action in four tournaments, including the first three in the spring. He opened very consistent in the spring, scoring six rounds all between 74 and 76 in tying for 36th at the Matlock Collegiate and tying for 35th at the Puerto Rico Classic with identical 224 (+8) performances. He also played in the Louisiana Classics (tying for 71st, 2310 and struggled a bit in his lone fall effort, a 235 at the Tucker Invitational.
2001-02 (Fr.-RS): He saw action in three tournaments, the first of his collegiate career. In his only spring action, he was CU’s fifth-man in the CU-Stevinson Ranch Invitational, tying for 77th with an 80-77-81?238 scorecard. His other two meets were in the fall: he tied for 46th at the Washington Husky Invitational and for 77th at the New Mexico Tucker. All six rounds were between 75 and 79 as he first arrived on campus in late August after the U.S. Amateur.
2000-01 (Fr.): Redshirted as a true freshman at Virginia Tech.
High School?He had a tremendous senior season, capped off by winning the 4A Arizona state championship and tying for second in the regionals. He moved to Arizona prior to his senior year, he lettered three times at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Maryland. He was an all-metro selection as junior, when he finished third in the district championship.
Other?2003: He tied for second in the medal portion of the Arizona Men’s Amateur (67-68?135), but lost in the first round of match play. 2002: He finished third in the stroke play portion of the Arizona Men’s Amateur (70-68?138), but lost in the round of 16 in match play. 2001: He tied for second in the Arizona Men’s Amateur Qualifier (73), and advanced to match play by following that up with a 75. A 74-71?145 scorecard that tied him for fourth enabled him to qualify for the U.S. Amateur, where he shot a 76-80?156 and missed advancing to match play. He was the second alternate in qualifying for the U.S. Amateur Public Links (68-70?138). 2000: He was the Scottsdale (Ariz.) City Co-Player of the Year as a senior in high school, as he was third in the all-city championship. 1998: He qualified for the USGA Junior Championship, advancing into the match play competition. 1997: He won the Bobby Gorin Invitational, and was the medalist in the Washington Metropolitan Golf Association’s Men’s Amateur Championship. 1996: Won the Maryland State Junior Championship as a high school freshman; he had a low round of 69 in the meet, as he became the youngest winner (age 14) in the tournament’s nearly 75-year history.
