College?This Year (Fr.): He appears to be in position to post top 10 numbers for rounds played and stroke average by a freshman based on his fall performance.  He played in all four fall tournaments, with his 75.08 stroke average third best on the squad.  He opened his career with three straight top 35 finishes, tying for 23rd out of the gate at the Notre Dame Invitational/NCAA Central Regional Preview, and then posting two straight 5-over par performances, tying for 33rd at the New Mexico Tucker invite (221) and then at Stanford’s The Nelson (212), where he recorded his first collegiate round in the 60s (an even-par 69 on the short Stanford course).  Ten of his 12 rounds counted toward team scoring.

 

High School?He lettered four times at MCHS, three times for coach Jack Jacobsen, he won the state title as a junior in 2002 with a 73-67?140 performance at Greeley’s Boomerang Golf Club, and finished third in the state meet his senior year, firing a 70-73?143 (Cattails G.C., Alamosa).  He was 11th as a sophomore in 2001 with a 75-74?149 at Spring Valley G.C.  He was a three-time, first-team all-conference selection (second-team as a freshman under coach Mike Allison) and a three-time Cortez junior champion.  He registered 10 high school tournament victories, including the 2003 regional title.  His high school average was a solid 73, the figure he averaged as a senior; he averaged just over 75 as a freshman, 74 as a junior and 72.4 as a junior.

 

Other?2004: He tied for 22nd (73-77-72?222) in the CGA Public Links Championship at Collindale GC in Fort Collins, and placed 10th at the Big I Junior Classic.  2003: He captured the Colorado Golf Association Junior Stroke Play title in Denver with a 70-71-67?208 scorecard.  The San Juan Junior champion, he was one of 24 boys to be selected as a CGA Junior All-Star.  2002: He was the club champion of the Conquistador Golf Club as a 16-year old.

Academics?He is majoring in business at Colorado.  A perennial honor student with a 3.69 grade point average in high school, he was a two-time President’s Award recipient as a prep.  He is attending Colorado on a prestigious Eisenhower-Evans Scholarship.

   

Personal?Born March 19, 1986 in Lubbock, Texas.  He was the Homecoming King his senior year in high school. He was active in his community, donating his time as a volunteer teacher giving junior golfers lessons for several summers.  His personal teacher was Micah Rudosky, the head pro at Conquistador and one of the top tutors in the state.
