This Season ? As a junior, Joaquin has all of the necessary ingredients to have a great season.  Look for some good results from Joaquin this year.”

 

2007 ? Goodpaster participated in four of six meets in his sophomore campaign and he recorded three top-25 finishes.  His best finish of the season came at the Montana State Invitational where he finished 17th in the 20K classical race, clocking in at 1:07:59.26.

 

2006 ? In his first season at Colorado, Goodpaster saw action in four of six meets.  He managed a pair of top-15 finishes on the season, the first coming at the Montana State Invitational, where he took 13th in the 15K classical race.  He followed that up with a 12th place finish in the 10K classical race at the RMISA Championships.  His top finish in the freestyle discipline was a 22nd place at the Alaska Invitational in the 10K.

 

High School ? Under the guidance of high school coach Jeff Schloss, Goodpaster’s prep team was a state champion all four years of his high school career. He was a three-time All-American as a prep, culminated by winning the state championship his senior year. As a member of the Under 18 U.S. Nordic ski team, Goodpaster placed second in the relay and fourth in the 15K skate at the Truckee Junior Nationals in 2005. As a junior, he finished third in the relay, seventh in the 10K Classic and eighth in the skate sprint at the Lake Placid Junior Nationals. He also placed fourth in the 5K Classic at the McCall, Idaho Junior Nationals in 2002.

 

In the Classroom ? Goodpaster is a psychology major at Colorado.

 

Other ? A multi-sports athlete, he also participated in football and soccer in high school. Goodpaster played in the backfield on offense and as a cornerback on defense; in soccer he played defense. His hobbies include hip-hop music and basketball. He has done volunteer work skiing with the blind and collecting cans for the Boulder homeless.

 

Personal ? Born December 14, 1986 in Sacramento Calif., Goodpaster is the son of Jude Goodpaster and Mai-Anh Nguyen. He has two younger siblings, Maisha, 19, a freshman skier at Colorado and Kai, 13, who is in the eighth grade. He and his siblings are half Vietnamese.
