Career—Battling injuries the second half of her career, she missed both the 2019 and 2020 seasons due to injury and retired from the sport February 16 on social media ahead of the Utah series in 2020. She started just 21 of a possible 48 races in her career and finished 17 of them with nine top 20 performances.
2020 (Senior)—She missed the entire 2020 season due to injury. She retired from competitive ski racing on Feb. 16, 2020, on social media ahead of the Utah series.
2019 (Junior)—She missed the entire 2019 season due to injury.2018 (Sophomore)—She started nine races, completing seven of them and posted five top 20 finishes … After missing the MSU Invite to open the year, she returned for the Utah Invite and posted her best result of the season, a 13th place finish in the slalom … Her best giant slalom finish was 18th at the Denver Invitational, which also was her best career finish in the event … She finished in 18th in the slalom at the 2018 RMISA Championship … In training prior to the NCAA Championships, she suffered a knee injury that required surgery.
2017 (Freshman)—In her first year with the Buffs she finished 10 of the 12 races she competed in ... Her top showings were in slalom races, as she finished 11th at both the Montana State and Utah Invitationals in the event to open the season ... At her very first RMISA Championships, she placed 15th in the slalom and 24th in the giant slalom, the GS finish matching her best of the season ... Prior to the start of NCAA competition, McGrew placed 14th in the giant slalom in a FIS race held at Eldora Mountain Resort on Jan. 2, 2017 ... She also placed 16th in the event in another FIS race held at Copper Mountain on Nov. 30, 2016.
Prior to CU—She was a member of the USSA Team Academy out of Park City, Utah as well as Team Summit ... Prior to coming to the University of Colorado, she competed in 146 FIS races from 2013 until her arrival on the CU Boulder campus in the fall of 2016 ... She won the slalom at the USA National Junior Race held at Copper Mountain on Dec. 7, 2014 and on March 15, 2015 also won the slalom at another USA National Junior Race held at Echo Mountain ... She also had second-place finishes in the slalom at another USA National Junior Races held at Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs on Dec. 20, 2015, was second in the Super G at a FIS Race at Aspen Highlands on Jan. 1, 2016 and took third in the downhill at the USA National Junior Championships at Copper Mountain on March 3, 2016.
In the Classroom—She is majoring in integrative physiology at Colorado and is pursuing a minor in Philosophy. She was named to the 2017 and 2018 USCSCA National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Teams, which requires a cumulative 3.5 grade point average and competing at the NCAA Regional Championships.
