Prior to CU—Buzek competed for the U.S. Ski Team from 2023–25, skiing under Will Hadden on the D Team in 2023–24 and Clement Toramichel on the C Team in 2024–25. He was named U.S. Ski Team Rookie of the Year in both 2024 and 2025. Prior to joining the national team, he trained with Team Summit Colorado for six years (2017–23) under coach Aldo Radamus, and with Buck Hill for five years (2012–17) under coach Eric Sailer. He represented the United States at the Junior World Championships in both 2024 and 2025, highlighted by a fifth-place finish in slalom in 2024 (France) and bronze medals in both team parallel and team combined in 2025 (Italy). Buzek has over 40 Continental Cup starts, earning his first podium with a third-place slalom finish at Mont Ste-Marie, Quebec, in 2024, followed by his first win in slalom at Panorama Resort, British Columbia, in 2024. He added two Nor-Am Cup runner-up finishes in 2025, in slalom at Norquay, Alberta, and Sugarloaf, Maine. At the U.S. National Championships, he placed second in slalom in 2025 at Vail and fifth in 2024 at Sun Valley. Internationally, he took eighth in slalom at the 2025 Austrian National Championships in Reiteralm. He comes to CU with 18.93 FIS points in slalom (top-75 in the world) and 35.38 in giant slalom. In all, Buzek has recorded seven race wins, all in slalom, and 22 career podiums, with 20 coming in slalom.

High School—He graduated from Summit High School in Breckenridge, Colorado, in 2024.

In the Classroom—He is interested in majoring in Business at Colorado. He is interested in becoming a business owner.

Personal—Full name is Stanley Janusz Buzek. His birthday is August 18 and he was born in Boulder, Colo. His parents are Mark and Kjersten Buzek. His mom played basketball at Kansas State and his dad skied at the University of Minnesota. He also competed in lacrosse and mountain biking. His hobbies include mountain biking, fishing, skateboarding, backpacking, and water skiing. He volunteered for Team Summit Colorado and Operation Sandwich.
