JUNIOR (2017): Vidger was once again a key part in CU’s success, helping the Buffs reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament and break school records for shutouts (14) and goals-against average (0.61). She started 19 of 21 matches, opening the season as the team’s holding central midfielder, before shifting to center back for the final seven matches. Vidger played 1,602 minutes during the season and the Buffs outscored opponents 28-12 and had a 0.67 GAA when she was on the field. She recorded two of her four shot attempts during the season in a 6-0 win over UC Riverside on Aug. 27. For the season, Vidger played 90 or more minutes eight times, including each of the final six matches. She also earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention with a 3.68 GPA.
SOPHOMORE (2016): Vidger was a major contributor to one of CU’s best seasons ever, reaching the NCAA Tournament and finishing second in the Pac-12. She played in all 22 matches and started 15 times as a center back. She also scored two goals and had an assist for five points, while attempting nine shots and seven on goal. She scored in a season-opening 2-0 win at Air Force on Aug. 19 and had her second goal of the year to tie the game against Michigan State on Sept. 1. Vidger recorded her first career assist in a 3-0 win over Oregon State on Oct. 9. After starting the first five matches of the year, she came off the bench in the next seven, but returned to start the final 10 matches of the season. For the season, she was on the field for 1,648 minutes. She also earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention with her 3.70 cumulative GPA.
FRESHMAN (2015): Vidger played in 17 matches with three starts as a defender as a true freshman. She saw action in 875 minutes, helping the team to a 0.93 goals-against average when she was on the pitch. She attempted 10 shots, including three on goal. She started the first two matches of Pac-12 play, seeing time on the pitch in 83 minutes of a 2-1 overtime win against No. 14 California on Sept. 27, and playing 84 minutes in a 1-0 loss at Oregon on Oct. 2. Vidger attempted a season-high three shots in a 1-1 draw with No. 19 Washington on Oct. 9. She played a season-high 90 minutes in her third start of the season, the final match of the year at Utah on Nov. 6.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Vidger has earned a Varsity letter all four years as a high school player. She was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year in her sophomore and junior seasons. Vidger also earned recognition as First-team All-League as a junior and Second-team All-League as a sophomore. She participated in an Olympic Development Camp in 2011 through 2013 and was part of the Regional IV Camp in 2012. Vidger played her club ball alongside fellow 2015 recruit Amy Alexander with Real Colorado out of Highlands Ranch, Colo.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Vidger is majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in business. She has earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention as a sophomore and junior and has a cumulative GPA of 3.68.
PERSONAL: Alexandra Vidger is the oldest of three children for Paul and Teresa Vidger. Born in Dallas, Texas, Vidger moved with her family to Castle Rock, Colo. before high school. She is active in community service as a member of National Honor Society and has been involved with the National Charity League since 2010. Her goal after her career as a Buff is to get into sports broadcasting and compete for the U.S. National Team. Vidger chose Colorado because of the fantastic soccer program, academics, beautiful campus and the ability to stay in state.
