UNITED STATES WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM: Kornieck received her first call up to the U.S. Women's National Team on June 13, 2022. Kornieck was one of 23 players selected by head coach Vlatko Andonovski to represent the USA in Mexico for the 2022 Concacaf Women's Championship. She earned her first cap on Saturday, June 25 in a friendly vs. Colombia at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Denver. She made her international debut coming into the match in the 73rd minute and became the 22nd player in USWNT history to score in her first appearance after finishing a header off a set-piece service from Megan Rapinoe. At 6-foot-1, Kornieck also became the tallest field player ever to appear for the USA and the 248th woman to earn a USWNT cap.
PROFESSIONAL CAREER: Kornieck was the third overall pick in the 2020 NWSL College Draft by Orlando Pride. In September 2020, she joined German Bundesliga Club MSV Duisburg on loan and appeared in 11 matches across all competitions scoring one goal and one assist. In 2021, Kornieck returned to Orlando from her loan before being traded to San Diego. In her first season in San Diego, heading into the international break, Kornieck has started all 10 games for the Wave, netting two goals and two assists. She was named to the NWSL Best XI for May and June of 2022 and was also selected the NWSL Player of the Week for Week 7.
SENIOR (2019): Kornieck put in an outstanding senior year for the Buffs, helping take them to the second round of the NCAA Tournament...She finished the year with a career-high 12 goals, six assists and she ranked seventh in the NCAA with 5.0 shots per game...Kornieck also became the first player in school history to surpass 100 career points, passing Nikki Marshall as CU's all-time points leader with 102...Kornieck had four game-winning goals this season and five multi-point matches...she average 1.36 points per game, ranking fourth in CU history...Kornieck tied the school record with 24 career assists and finishes second in CU history with 39 career goals...She leaves CU as the career leader in points per game (1.24), shots (332), shots per game (4.05) and penalty kicks made (9)....She was a Third-Team United Soccer Coaches All-American and was honored as a Third-Team TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Best XI selection...For 2019 team awards, Kornieck received MVP, Offensive MVP and Buff Cup, which is an award given to the player with the most accumulated point from competitions amongst the team during the spring season...She was selected third overall in the NWSL Draft by the Orlando Pride.
JUNIOR (2018): Kornieck was a top-producer for the Buffaloes in 2018. She was a key contributor in Colorado’s record-setting season. She became the first All-American for the Buffaloes since 2006 and just the second to be recognized by the United Soccer Coaches. finished second on the team with a career-best 28 points, despite missing four matches to injury. She ranked seventh in the NCAA with .63 assists per game. Kornieck set the CU record for assists in 2018. She became the first Buffalo to reach double-digits, finishing with 10 (13th NCAA). Kornieck scored nine goals in her 16 starts, tallying two multi-goal and nine-multi-point games. She was also among the top offensive players in the nation this season, totaling school record 1.75 points per game (11th NCAA). Kornieck jumped up the record lists at Colorado this season. She leads the Buffs with 1.20 points per game in her three seasons. She moved into second, averaging .45 goals per game and is fourth in points (72), fourth in goals (27) and third in assists (18). She was also first-team All-Conference and first-team All-Pacific Region.
SOPHOMORE (2017): Kornieck once again was a major part of CU’s success as she led the Buffs to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and helped the Buffs break school records for shutouts (14) and goals-against average (0.61). She earned second-team All-Pac-12 and was named first-team All-West Region by the United Soccer Coaches. She started all 22 matches as an attacking central midfielder and had seven goals and four assists to tie teammate Marty Puketapu for a team-high 18 points. Her 92 shot attempts were the second-most ever in a season at CU and she put 33 of those attempts on goal. Kornieck also had four game-winning goals and was on the field for 1,850 minutes, the third-most on the team. She ranked 20th nationally in shots per game (4.18), 55th in game-winning goals and 105th in shots on goal per game (1.50). In the Pac-12, she was second in shots per game, fourth in game-winning goals and seventh in shots on goal per game. Kornieck opened her account in the second match of the season, scoring in the 102nd minute to beat Colorado College 1-0 on Aug. 20. She followed that up with the only goal of a 1-0 win just five days later in a win over TCU, scoring on a header in the 33rd minute. Kornieck scored the first goal of a 3-0 win over BYU on Sept. 4. Her final game-winning goal of the season came in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as her strike in the 52nd minute lifted CU to a 2-1 win over Denver on Nov. 12, as CU rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit. Her assist helped Megan Massey score the game-tying goal just two minutes prior to her score against DU. During the season, Kornieck also scored a goal at UTSA, at Denver (regular season) and at Oregon. She had a pair of assists in a 3-0 win over Arizona State on Oct. 19 and had another assist against BYU. Altogether, Kornieck had two matches with a goal and assist, against BYU on Sept. 4 and Denver on Nov. 12.
FRESHMAN (2016): Kornieck capped one of the best seasons in Colorado history—not just for a freshman, but for anyone—by leading the Buffs to the NCAA Tournament and a second-place finish in the Pac-12. She captured numerous awards, including Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, first-team all-Pac-12, NSCAA first-team all-Pacific Region, and Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Best XI first team. She finished her first year in Boulder by starting all 22 matches with 11 goals, four assists, 26 points, 77 shot attempts, 27 shots on goal and six game-winning goals. She averaged 0.50 goals per game and 1.18 points per game. Kornieck tied the CU single-season record for penalty-kick goals (3). Additionally, in the single-season record books, she ranked second in game-winning goals, tied for second in goals per game, third in points per game, and tied for third in points and goals. Nationally, she ranked ninth in game-winning goals, 45th in goals, 59th in shots per game (3.50), 66th in points and 80th in goals per game. In the Pac-12, she was second in goals and game-winning goals, fourth in shots per game, fifth in goals per game and sixth in points and points per game. Her totals for goals and points both ranked as the second-most ever for a CU freshman and she finished second in the nation among freshmen in goals scored and third in points. Kornieck scored her first career goal against Colorado State in the seventh minute on Aug. 21 and had her first assist on Sept. 1 against Michigan State. On Sept. 4, she recorded five points with two goals and an assist, making it the third time in CU history a freshman has had five points in a match and then scored twice against Hawai’i on Sept. 9 to become the first CU freshman to ever record back-to-back two-goal matches. She opened Pac-12 play with a bang for the Buffs, scoring at 88:41 to lift CU to a 1-0 win at Washington State, the 200th win in school history and CU’s first-ever win in Pullman. It was also the third-latest regulation game-winning goal in school history. That goal sparked a five-match goal-scoring streak lasting through Oct. 9, the longest ever at CU. She also became the first CU player ever to score the game-winning goal in three consecutive matches, netting winners at Washington State (1-0 win), at Arizona (Sept. 29, 1-0 win) and at Arizona State (Oct. 2, 1-0 win). Those efforts led to her earning Top Drawer Soccer National Player of the Week and Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 4. Her goal streak continued beyond the Arizona trip as she scored in wins over Oregon on Oct. 6 and Oregon State on Oct. 9 at home, capping her record-breaking run. Her goal streak ended on Oct. 14, but she kept her points streak alive at six matches with two assists in a 2-1 win over Washington as CU moved to 6-0-0 in Pac-12 play for the first time ever. The six-match points streak was the second-longest ever at Colorado. In 11 Pac-12 matches, Kornieck finished the season with six goals and two assists for 14 points.
CLUB TEAM: She played for the San Diego Surf and Las Vegas Premier ECNL clubs, where she was the top goal scorer in 2015 for the Southwest Division of the ECNL and third in the country. Kornieck was selected to the ECNL/iD2 National Camp in 2015 and was a Top XI selection and named MVP of the camp. In 2014, she led Surf White 99 to a U-15 national championship as a discovery player. She was coached by Mark Spooner. Taylor also led her club team in Nevada to the 2015 Surf Cup championship and three Nevada state championships.
ODP: Kornieck was a member of the Nevada Olympic Development Program and was selected as a team captain. She earned numerous awards and was selected to several all-star teams and was chosen to the Region IV ODP team in 2015, where she was named to the Best XI.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE: Kornieck was a member of the Under-18 USWNT in 2016 and was selected as a team captain. She competed in several matches in Spain and England in 2016 prior to joining the Buffs as a freshman. In 2017, she was promoted to the U-19 and U-20 national teams, playing in six matches. She scored her first international goal in a win over England in July and had an assist with the U-19 squad and another with the U-20 team. During the summer, she saw action in two U-19 matches against Czech Republic, two against England with the U-20s and two against Germany with the U-20s. Her assist against the Czech Republic in Prague was against the Czech full national team in a 5-2 defeat. Kornieck was named to the U-20 USWNT roster for a friendly tournament in La Manga, Spain, in April 2018, but did not compete due to an injury.
HIGH SCHOOL: Kornieck was a 2015 NSCAA All-American at Coronado High School where she served as team captain. As a senior, she also was named Nevada player of the year after scoring 54 goals and adding 12 assists and leading Coronado to the state finals. She was a three-time all-state honoree, totaling 84 goals and 37 assists in her three-year career. The team had a combined 57-5 record over three seasons, reaching the state championship twice. She was coached by Dana Neel. A well-rounded athlete, Kornieck was also an outside hitter for the Coronado volleyball team and played wide receiver for the flag football team. She was also a standout in the classroom and was a three-time scholar-athlete.
IN THE CLASSROOM: She is majoring in integrative physiology. She would like to open a facility to help rehabilitate athletes to get them back to competition after she graduates.
PERSONAL: She was born Taylor Jacklyn Kornieck on Nov. 22, 1998, in Troy, Michigan. She is the daughter of Kevin and Kristin Kornieck and her brother Nick plays basketball at Spire Institute. Her mother Kristin played professional volleyball in Europe. She plans on majoring in sports medicine at Colorado and is also interested in business as she wants to open a facility to help rehabilitate athletes from injuries following a professional playing career.
