2017-18 (SENIOR): Daniel went 6-14 in singles play and 10-8 in doubles in her final season with the Buffs. She played primarily the No. 3 singles position, going 2-12 there. She was 2-1 at No. 4. Daniel reached the finals in the Gold Draw at the CU Invitational to open the season, falling to teammate Linda Huang in the championship. In Pac-12 play, Daniel earned a win over Jena Cheng on April 21, winning 6-4, 7-6 (2) in her final home match to lead the Buffs to a 4-3 win over Utah. In doubles play, she and Ilana Oleynik won five straight matches from March 3 to March 13. They defeated Arizona’s Gitte Heynemans and Sophia Thomas 6-2 on March 9. Then they won 6-1 against No. 34 Arizona State’s Sasa Klanecek and Savannah Slaysman two days later for their two Pac-12 victories. After those two wins at the No. 3 position, they moved up to No. 2 in the lineup.
2016-17 (JUNIOR): Daniel posted an 8-1 singles record and 7-4 doubles mark. However, she competed just twice in dual matches in the spring before suffering a season-ending injury, winning both of her matches against Northern Colorado and Colorado State at the No. 2 position. Prior to the dual matches, she went 2-0 at the Indiana Invitational and was 4-1 in the fall. In doubles, she and Louise Ronaldson defeated Northern Colorado’s Beth Coton and Remi Immler 6-3 at the No. 1 position in her only completed dual doubles match of the spring. Daniel went 3-1 in doubles during the fall and reached the Round of 32 at the ITA Mountain Regional.
2015-16 (SOPHOMORE): Daniel compiled an 11-19 singles record between the fall and spring seasons and a 12-12 doubles mark. She played primarily No. 2 singles, posting three wins there and two at No. 3. She went 2-1 at the Colorado Invitational and then advanced to the Round of 32 at the ITA Mountain Region Championships. Her biggest moment of the year came when she clinched CU’s 4-3 upset of No. 59 Arizona with a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win over Shayne Austin at No. 2. She backed that up by upsetting 105th-ranked Stacey Fung 6-4, 6-4 on March 18 against Washington. Daniel also defeated California’s Audrey Mayer 6-2, 6-4 in the consolation of the Pac-12 Championships. She earned dual wins against Air Force, Boise State, Northern Colorado and Colorado State. After going 3-3 in doubles play at the CU Invitational, she and Nuria Ormeño Ruiz reached the Round of 16 at the regional tournament. She and Annabelle Andrinopoulos earned doubles point-clinching wins over UTEP and Boise State. Daniel and Ormeño Ruiz clinched the doubles point in a 4-3 win over No. 41 Oregon with a 6-3 win at No. 1. Daniel posted a 3-5 doubles record at No. 1 and 4-2 at No. 2.
2014-15 (FRESHMAN): Daniel led the UTEP Miners in overall wins (22-8), while her dual match victories (12-4) ranked second on the squad. Her singles winning percentage (.733) ranked eighth best for a single season in program history. She went 11-4 at the No. 2 spot and 1-0 at No. 3 and also paced UTEP with 10-tournament wins in the fall. Daniel finished the season winning seven of her last 10 matches, which included a victory over UTSA’s Alena Shichkova, 6-0, 7-5, at the Conference USA Championships (April 16). She tallied a 6-3, 7-5, win over No. 75 Emily Olivier (New Mexico, Feb. 7). She forged a 13-13 overall doubles record, including a 7-5 fall mark. Her efforts helped Miners produce .706 winning percentage – best in program history. She tallied a doubles win with Davina Meza at C-USA Tournament, defeating UTSA’s Jacobea Junger and Miriam Rosell, 8-0, at the No. 1 spot.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Daniel is majoring in psychology with a minor in education.
PRIOR TO COLLEGE: A four-star recruit, she competed at International Tennis Federation tournaments in a variety of places. She forged a 3-0 record against four-star recruits in 2013 and won a match over Maricielo Torres Chihuan, 6-3, 6-1, in a tournament in Lima, Peru (March 2014). Daniel traveled to Anatalya, Turkey for competition in November 2013 and February 2014. She notched a victory in July 2013 in Brussels, Belgium, defeating Chantelle Rigozzi, 6-2, 6-3. She tallied back-to-back victories in June 2012 at Williamsburg, Va., and won a doubles match in Heraklion, Greece in April 2012.
PERSONAL: She was born Jeannez A. Daniel in Philadelphia, Pa., to Chevaughn and Mhyrlito Daniel. She began playing tennis at age eight and has one brother and one sister.
