Gleisy Torres Torres joins the Colorado coaching staff after enjoying a stellar four years as a student-athlete from 2004-08. Torres Torres graduated in May 2008 with a bachelors of science degree in broadcast news and a minor in ethnic studies.

One of the outstanding tennis players in the history of the program, Torres Torres left the CU program tied for 10th all-time on the school's all-time singles victories list (74), in addition tallying an eighth place finish in doubles wins (54). She was the first CU player in nine years to finish her career ranked in both top-10 singles and doubles categories and ended her four-year career ranked third and fourth, respectively on the school's all-time Big 12 Conference wins list.

Named the team's most valuable player her senior year, Torres Torres was also awarded the Big 12 Conference Good Works Team (significant community service, good academic standing and participation). During her junior year, Torres Torres was one of six regional Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cissie Leary Sportsmanship recipient winners (Central Region), and helped CU earn its first NCAA Tournament appearance in four years. She also won 25 matches for the year, tying for the team high.

In the classroom, Torres Torres was an eight-time Commissioners Honor Roll winner, a three-time All-Big 12 Academic first team selection, and a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete in 2006-07 and 2007-08. Torres Torres was also awarded the tennis team's classroom grade point average recipient in 2006-07 and 2007-08.

A native of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, Torres Torres also worked for the Daily Camera and News Team Boulder. She's single and resides in Boulder.

2008 Spring (senior): Wrapped up her final spring season finishing tied for 10th all-time on CU's all-time singles victories list (74); also tallied an eighth place finish in doubles wins (54). First CU player in nine years to finish career ranked in both top-10 singles and doubles categories ... Also ended her four-year career ranked third and fourth, respectively on the school's all-time Big 12 Conference wins list. In singles, won 27 singles matches with 24 doubles matches ... Recorded a 12-11 dual singles mark with 11 wins at No. 3, picked up another win at No. 4 ... Clinched three team victories at No. 3 ... Went 9-4 against the Big 12 ... Engineered a five-match winning streak helping CU win all five matches ... Teamed with freshman Abbie Probert at No. 3 doubles establishing a team-best 13-4 spring record, 12 of them at No. 3 ... Won a season-best seven-match winning streak with Probert from Jan. 25-Mar. 26 ... Helped CU win the doubles point clinching five matches with Probert ... Overall, went 14-7 in spring doubles and 18-10 for the year ... CU Athlete of the Week (Mar. 31-Apr. 6).

2007 Fall (senior): Began her senior year winning seven of 12 times ... One of four women to win at least seven matches ... Won four straight, including three in a row at the ITA Central Regional (Oct. 17-18) qualifying round, and advancing to the main draw Round of 32 ... Won four doubles matches picking up three victories with Abbie Probert and one with Tori Almagno ... Enters the spring season in 18th place on CU's all-time victories list with 62; also has 39 doubles wins.

2007 Spring (junior): Was one of six regional Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cissie Leary Sportsmanship recipient winners (Central Region) ... Helped CU earn its first NCAA Tournament appearance in four years; most team victories (16) and Big 12 Conference triumphs (9), and highest team ranking (37th) -- all team-bests in eight years (1999) ... Tied for second on the team with 16 dual match victories and one of three to win at least that many spring matches ... Won 25 matches for the year, tying for the team high ... Joined teammate Monica Milewski as only the sixth pair to win at least 25 matches in a single year, and first tandem since 1998-99 to win that many, also in a single year ... One of three women to win over 20 singles victories, a school first since four players had 20-plus during 1998-99 ... One of four women with seven or more dual match Big 12 Conference victories ... Clinched three of the Buffaloes 16 victories: Northern Colorado (Feb. 25), Nebraska (April 22) and upset over No. 14 Baylor (Mar. 4) with a 7-6(1), 6-3 winner over Iva Mihaylova at the No. 5 slot ... Rallied from a set down against NU's Maria Ring, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 helping CU to a 4-3 team victory; also rallied from a set down defeating William & Mary's Magdalena Bresson, 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 at No. 5 helping the Buffs to a 4-3 upset over No. 12 and the previously unbeaten Tribe ... Played solid tennis throughout the spring reaching the winners' circle her first seven of eight matches and closed the season winning six of her last eight ... Also had a pair of four-match winning streaks ... Teamed with Camila Belassi for a final No. 14th ranking in the Central Region (out of 15) and nationally ranked at No. 42 at the end of February by the Intercollegiate tennis Association (ITA) ... Was CU's No. 1 doubles team ... Clinched four matches with Belassi helping CU secure the doubles point ... One of three doubles teams that won at least 10 matches in dual play (10 wins) with Belassi, a CU first in 15 years (1992) ... During the month of February won six-straight doubles matches (Feb. 2-25) ... Also teamed with junior teammate Victoria Almagno recording a 4-1 mark for the year; also went 1-0 in dual play at No. 3 in a doubles sweep over Nebraska ... Ranked 21st on the CU all-time list with 55 career singles and 25th place with 36 doubles victories ... Finished three-year career ranking ninth in Big 12 Conference singles wins (18-14) and tied for 10th in doubles triumphs (15-16).

2006 Fall (junior): Finished the fall season tying for the most singles victories on the team with nine (out of 11 matches) ... Won her first six matches ... Claimed her second straight USAFA singles flight for the second fall season in a row taking the Flight V title ... Opened the Wilson/ITA Central Regional (Oct. 18-22) with two qualifying wins over Estelle Guillamond (New Mexico State) and Michelle Brown (Wyoming) in straight sets and qualified for the Round of 64 main draw ... Fell in her opening round regional match, however rallied back to win three straight moving her into a consolation back draw semifinal appearance ... In doubles, engineered four wins in six matches, three of them with Tori Almagno at the USAFA Invitational (Oct. 6-7) to claim the Flight B championship defeating teams from Memphis, Wyoming, Denver ... Another win came with Martina Sedivec in the Wilson/ITA Round of 64 defeating a pair from Colorado State ... Wrapped up her third fall season compiling a 21-6 singles record.

2006 Spring (sophomore): Won six dual singles matches, four of those against the Big 12 Conference at the No. 6 position (Texas Tech, Kansas State, Missouri, Kansas) ... Won three straight matches, all in straight sets from Feb. 19-March 4 ... Five of six dual match wins came in straight sets ... Recorded a victory in her only appearance at the No. 4 and No. 5 singles slot ... Has won 30 singles matches in two years ranking third on the team among returning players; 18 of those triumphs are in dual play ... Excelled in doubles winning nine matches, eight of those with Jessica Vanderdys ... Combined with Vanderdys to form CU's top doubles team that won a team-best eight matches ... Finished the spring season ranked No. 47 nationally (out of 60) with Vanderdys in the final ITA/Fila rankings ... Also finished the dual season ranked No. 2 in the Central Region (out of 15) with Vanderdys ... Went 5-3 against the Big 12 Conference, including an upset over then-No. 43 Cerna/Zrustova of Baylor (April 22) ... Has won 20 doubles matches, ranking second of all returning players.

2005 Fall (sophomore): Opened the season with a 6-2 singles record ... Won six straight matches with three wins at the New Mexico Invitational (Sept. 23-25) and three wins at the USAFA Invitational (Oct. 7-9) ... Won the Flight III bracket at the New Mexico Invite and the consolation Flight B bracket at Air Force Invite ... Went 4-4 in doubles with two wins with Martina Sedivec at the USAFA Invitational for a second place finish in Flight I ... Teamed with Jenny Hanson at the New Mexico Invitational for another two wins.

2005 Spring (freshman): Named the team's Clutch Award winner ... Clinched three team victories at the No. 6 position ... Teamed with fellow freshman Veera Nurmi for one-two punch leading CU in victories during their initial rookie seasons with a runner up 18 wins ... Won 10 matches at No. 6 slot with three of those coming in three sets, also went 2-0 at No. 5 ... Recorded a 7-5 mark against the Big 12 ... Singles point at No. 6 helped CU upset No. 3 seed/No. 31 ranked Nebraska at the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinal (Apr. 29)  ... Clinched a trio of CU team wins at No. 6 slot against Oklahoma (Apr. 23), Kansas State (Apr. 17), Washington State (Feb. 3) ... In doubles, went 4-7 at No. 3 with three conference wins (Kansas, Kansas State and Nebraska) teaming with Jenny Hanson and one with Allison Quinn.

2004 Fall (freshman): Went 6-2 in tournament singles play, winning five straight from Sept. 18-Oct. 20 with three of those victories coming at the USAF Invitational (Oct. 8-10) ... First collegiate singles win came against senior Barbara Kourim of Denver in three sets at the CU Invitational (Sept. 17-19) ... Won three of five doubles matches, two matches with Allison Quinn at the USAF Invitational (Oct. 8-10), and one with Brooke Stern against an Auburn tandem at the CU Invite (Sept. 17-19).

Tennis in Venezuela: Represented Venezuela in all international tournaments ... Ranked number two in four age groups, 12-division (1998), 14-division (2000), 16-division (2002), and 18- division (2003) ... Number one ranked player in 18-division before leaving for the United States.

Personal: Born Gleisy Azareel Torres Torres on September 28, 1986 in Venezuela ... Daughter of Tomaz and Lesbia Torres.
