2010: Indoor: Thompson had a successful freshman indoor campaign. He capped off his indoor season with a pair of personal records in the long and triple jumps at the Colorado School of Mines Twilight meet (2/19). Thompson’s mark in the long jump was 22-07.75, good for second place. He jumped 45-02.25 in the triple jump to earn third.
Outdoor: Thompson’s best mark of the season in the long jump came at the Tom Benich Invite (4/3). He jumped 21-10.75 and placed eighth. Thompson jumped 43-04.50 in the triple jump at the Jack Christiansen Invite (4/24). He was seventh.
HIGH SCHOOL: Thompson is a three-time Colorado State 3A Champion. He won back-to-back titles in the long jump in 2008 and ‘09 and the 2009 triple jump title. As a senior, Thompson set RFHS records in both events. On May 8, 2009, he recorded a long jump mark of 22-04 and on May 15, 2009, Thompson had a triple jump of 46-09. In 2009 Thompson participated at the State Games of America in the 17-18 age group in Colorado Springs. He was first in both the long and triple jumps and also took fifth in the 100-meter dash.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Thompson is an open option engineering major. He was a member of the honor roll in high school.
PERSONAL: Tyler Thompson was born on December 20, 1990 in Carbondale, Colo. He is the son of Bradley and Karen Thompson and has one brother, Justin. His father played basketball at CU-Denver while his grandfather, Lew Ron Thompson, played basketball at Colorado and was coached by Sox Walseth.
