As a Senior in 2013
Alexis saw most of her action on the right side or outside hitting position. Her versatility allowed her to be a key sub in seven of CU’s matches. She recorded almost all of her season-highs against Rutgers (9/7) at the Candlewood Suites Invitational with nine kills, 26 attacks, nine digs and 11.5 points.
As a Junior in 2012
Alexis had a good sophomore campaign, playing in 27 matches with 14 starts. She ranked fifth on the team with 123 kills (1.48 kills per set) and added 104 digs. Alexis notched a career-high of 13 kills in her second match of the season against Louisiana (8/25). She also hit a season-best .458 in the match with just two errors on 24 attacks. Alexis hit double-digit kills on four occasions.
As a Sophomore in 2011
Alexis appeared in her first collegiate match against UNLV (8/26) where she recorded five digs. She proceeded to top that performance with a career-high 13 digs against Fordham (9/10). In the very same match, Alexis recorded career-high 11 kills. She also had two career double-doubles against Albany (9/4) and Fordham (9/10). Alexis saw action in all 30 matches, starting in 14. She totaled 159 kills, 1.77 kills per game, 114 digs, 1.27 digs per game and 16 blocks (seven solo and nine assists).
As a Freshman in 2010

High School
Alexis helped Prairie View High School to a 21-5 record during the 2009 season. Alexis recorded 332 kills, 375 digs, 52 ace and 26 blocks in 87 games for the Thunderhawks. She helped to turn around a team that was 4-11 in her freshman campaign, the first year of the school’s existence, to the Skyline League Champions as a senior. Alexis was named the league’s MVP as a junior and senior. On October 26, 2009, she was named the AVCA/Max Preps Player of the Week.
Alexis played for the Front Range Volleyball Club which received bids to play at the USAV Junior Olympics from 2006-09. While the club recorded many national championships, the 2009 season produced a top five finish at the AAU National Championships and a top 20 finish at USAV Junior Olympics. The team also placed third at the AAU Championship in 2007. She plays for the top 18s team in the club and is coached by Jim Miret, who was the first-ever assistant volleyball coach at CU. Alexis was also recruited by Ohio, Colorado State and Tulane, but decided on joining the Buffs because, “I loved everything about CU and to have the opportunity to help build a winning program.”
Personal
Emily Anne Alexis was born on February 20, 1992 in Aurora, Colo. She is the daughter of Tony and Gloria Alexis of Brighton, Colo. Alexis has four siblings, Carissa, Anna, Zach and Jacob. Her father played football at Ottawa University and her sister, Anna, played volleyball at Bethany College. Alexis lists reading, traveling, playing sports and listening to music as her hobbies and also enjoys snowball fights and sledding.
Academics
Alexis is a communication major at Colorado. Alexis was a member of the Principle’s Honor Roll and earned academic letters her senior and junior years. She was named an honorable mention selection to the All-Academic Pac-12 team in 2011 and owns a greater than 3.00 GPA.
