She recorded her first of 16 double-doubles in the first match against the Nittany Lions, hammering 10 kills while handing out 25 assists. She also had eight digs and two blocks. The following night, Simpson handed out a season-best 30 assists (and had eight digs and eight kills) against the Illini. Simpson was one of the Buffs most consistent players, offensively and defensively. She recorded a CU record seven triple-doubles in the season, breaking the previous record of six, and also set the record for the most consecutive triple-doubles with four, surpassing the former record of two. Her four straight triple-doubles came at the start of the Pac-12 schedule and the one against Arizona (9/25) had CU’s first ever 20-20 kills-assists double-double with 22 kills and 21 assists. She also had 19 digs and six blocks in the win over the Wildcats. Her seven season triple-doubles tied for fourth in the NCAA and led the Pac-12 Conference. She started in all of the 22 matches she played and saw time in 87 sets where she recorded 215 kills (hitting .215), 477 assists, 10 aces, 203 digs and 56 blocks for 254.5 points. The Buffs began the season running a 6-2 offense, with Simpson setting and hitting, but just a couple of weeks in to the non-conference schedule, CU switched to a 5-1, moving Simpson to the right side. The move worked well for Simpson as she became one of CU’s biggest offensive threats during the season, tallying 419 kills and 488.0 points, second on the team. She was also 10th in the Pac-12 Conference in kills (3.41 kps) and ninth in points (3.97 pps). In conference only matches, Simpson was just as impressive, ranking ninth in kills (3.53) and tenth in points (4.01). In the first match of the weekend, she hammered a then-career-high 21 kills against Montana State (9/18) and hit .372. She also hit .370 later that day against Weber State with 16 kills. Against then-top-ranked USC, Simpson again tallied 21 kills and hit .245 as CU just barely lost a five-set match to the Trojans. Simpson recorded her second Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honor after collecting a career-best 25 kills and .405 hitting efficiency in CU’s first-ever win against Stanford (10/18).
