Caley Dow is a versatile post player as she can play with her back to the basket and can shoot from 3-point range. She’s a great passer, sees the floor well and is an excellent student of the game of basketball.
2006-07 (Sophomore): Dow played in 21 of 30 games as a sophomore, complimenting a deep CU front court rotation. She enjoyed her most successful stretch during the middle of the Big 12 Conference season in which she appeared in nine straight games, including a season-high 30 minutes off the bench to help the Buffaloes snap a five-game road losing streak to Kansas State in Manhattan (2/14). She had a season-best eight points against the Wildcats, hitting 4-of-6 from the field, and recorded three rebounds. Dow had a season-best three steals against Kansas State after having only two in her previous 16 games.
2005-06 (Freshman): Dow had an outstanding freshman year, ranking second on the team in rebounds (5.5 rpg), field-goal percentage (.438, 57-of-130) and blocked shots (14). Her improvement during the course of her freshman year is evident when comparing her overall statistics to her statistics in Big 12 games. She shot nearly 46 percent (40-of-88) from the field in Big 12 games and increased her scoring and rebounding totals to 5.9 per game. She ranked 19th in the Big 12 in rebounding in league-only games and averaged 7.6 rebounds over the final 10 games of the season. She achieved a rare feat in her first big game performance, hitting 10-of-10 from the free-throw line against Oregon (12/30). Dow is just the seventh CU player to go 10-of-10 or better from the foul line in one game and only the second freshman joining CU All-American Shelly Sheetz who went 11-for-11 as a first year player against Kansas in 1992. Dow scored in 26-of-30 games, hitting double-digits on six occasions, including a personal-best 15 points against Oregon. She recorded two double-doubles, the first an 11-point, 11-rebound performance in CU’s road win over Kansas (2/1) and the second a 12-point, 10-rebound effort against Kansas State (2/8). She had three double-digit rebounding efforts and had at least seven rebounds 10 times. She made one start, at Missouri (1/18).
High School: Dow is a 2005 graduate of Arapahoe High School where she averaged 17.3 points and 9.3 rebounds as a senior. She was selected All-Colorado by both the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News and was named to the Class 5A All-State first team by both publications. A 2005 McDonald’s All-America nominee, Dow led Arapahoe to a 22-4 record as a senior, advancing to the Class 5A state quarterfinals. Dow was the state’s leading rebounder in 2004 and a first team All-Continental League pick, helping the Warriors to a 12-8 record as a junior. She averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds while gaining honorable mention to the 2004 Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News Class 5A All-State teams for the second straight season.
Academics: Dow is majoring in Spanish for the Professions and Economics at Colorado with a minor in business. She was named to the 2007 Academic All-Big 12 Conference Women’s Basketball first team and was also a member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the fall and spring semesters during the 2006-07 season.
