2019-20 (Sophomore): Volcy appeared in 23 games for the Buffs…She played a season-high of 10 minutes against USC (1/10)…She averaged 3.3 minutes per game.
2018-19 (Freshman): Volcy played in 24 games in her first season. She earned her lone start in CU’s first-round matchup against Arizona State in the Pac-12 Tournament. Played a season-high 16 minutes at UCLA (3/3). Averaged 0.7 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
HIGH SCHOOL: Volcy graduated from The Groton School in Groton, Mass., in 2017, and graduated from The Hun School, a prep school in Princeton, N.J., in 2018. She was named all-league as a senior at Groton, and honorable mention as a junior. At The Hun School, she was named to the Times of Trenton All-Prep team after averaging 12.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.3 blocks in 2017-18. Volcy was also a two-year letterwinner in track & field and a two-time team MVP. She was an honor-roll student throughout high school.
AAU: She played for the New Jersey Demons.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Volcy plans on majoring in biology and/or finance and would like to be a pediatrician after graduation.
PERSONAL: Kai Volcy was born on Nov. 11, 1999, in Livingston, N.J., to Frantz and Kellie Volcy. Her father is a civil engineer and her mother is a nurse and teacher of nursing. Her younger sister, Zoe, also plays basketball. In her spare time, she enjoys woodworking and reading, and volunteers at a local recycling center. Her father played basketball at Seton Hall and her grandfather Oliver Johnson played football for the Philadelphia Eagles. Volcy chose CU over Elon University.
