2018-19 (Junior): Diop earned her first career start at UCLA (3/3). She played a career-high 287 total minutes, averaging a career-beset 10.6 per game. She snagged a career-high 51 rebounds and handed out 19 assists. She had a season-high seven rebounds to go with four steals and two blocks at Nevada (11/23). She averaged 0.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.
2017-18 (Sophomore): Diop played in 22 games as a backup guard and averaged 1.8 rebounds and 1.7 points. She totaled 40 rebounds, 38 points, 12 steals and eight assists. Diop had a double-double with season highs of 10 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Mississippi Valley State on Nov. 24. She scored six points in a win over North Dakota State on Nov. 29 and had seven against Westminster (Mo.) on Dec. 21. Her season high in Pac-12 play was four points, scored in a win over Arizona on Dec. 31.
At Arizona Western: Diop spent her freshman season at Arizona Western College in 2016-17. At AWC, she averaged 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.2 blocked shots, while starting 27 of 30 games. She scored in double figures 16 times, including a season-high 17 points in a 65-45 win over Glendale C.C. on Feb. 18. She also had two games of 10 rebounds and season highs of seven assists, four steals and four blocks. Arizona Western finished the season 23-9 and reached the regional final.
High School: She graduated from Lycee Gambetta in Arras, France in 2015.
Academics: She is majoring in sociology.
Personal: Mathilde Aicha Diop was born on June 15, 1997, in Dakar, Senegal, to Mouhamadou Moustapha Diop and Maximiana Lopez Diop. Her father also played professional basketball for Stade Francais and was an Olympian in Senegal. She is fluent in four different languages. Outside of basketball, she enjoys listening to music, Netflix and eating.
