A former adidas high school All-American RyAnne Ridge will add to the Colorado depth at guard. She is anxious to see the court after sitting out the 2006-07 season after transferring from the University of Tulsa. Ridge is a junior, with two years of eligibility. She displays great leadership qualities on and off the floor and has a great understanding of the game of basketball.
2006-07 (Sophomore-Redshirt): Ridge sat out the 2006-07 season as a redshirt in the Colorado basketball program. She participated in practice and conditioning all season and helped the Buffs prepare for opponents as a scout player.
2004-06 Tulsa: Ridge spent two seasons at Tulsa, playing for Kathy McConnell-Miller as a true freshman in 2004-05. Ridge played in 22 games as a first-year player logging four starts and averaging just under two points and two rebounds per contest. She sat out the 2005-06 Tulsa campaign with an injury, but was still a member of the Golden Hurricane’s Conference USA championship squad.
High School: Ridge is a 2004 graduate of Xavier High School where she was a two-time adidas high school All-American (2002-03) and a honorable mention All-American by Street & Smith. She averaged 8.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a junior, helping Xavier to the 2003 Iowa state championship. A finalist for Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year honors, she led Xavier to a three-year record of 65-13 from 2002-04, back-to-back conference titles in 2002-03 and a state runner up finish in 2002. Ridge, who owns Xavier High School records for rebounds, steals and blocks, was a two-time first team all-district performer and was a McDonald’s All-American Team nominee. Ridge was a member of three Iowa Elite AAU state championship teams and was named either MVP or All-Tournament on five occasions. As a senior at Xavier, she ranked 46th nationally among shooting guards according to the All-Star Girl’s Report and was the 87th ranked player in the 2004 senior class by the Blue Star Index. Ridge also earned a pair of letters in track & field, running the 400 meters and 4x400 relay.
Academics: Ridge, a psychology major at Colorado, was named to the Conference USA All-Academic team in 2006 and was a two-time member of the Tulsa Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
Personal: RyAnne Ashley Ridge was born June 27, 1985, in Cedar Rapids. She is the daughter of Stephen and Rene Ridge. She has two older sisters, Courtney (25) and Shannon (23) and a younger brother, Shea (20). Ridge would like to become a doctor of psychology and a basketball coach. She lists the ability to ride a unicycle as a unique trait.
