She earned Rolex honorable mention junior all-America honors in 1990, and was honored for her golf accomplishments by the Sportswomen of Colorado in 1993, and was the Colorado Section PGA’s Player-of-the-Year in 1993. She was Cherry Creek’s MVP her junior and senior seasons, during both of which Cherry Creek won the state team title.
Other – Heffer is no stranger to recent success in Colorado, as she followed her impressive high school career by claiming top honors in the 1994 Colorado Women’s Open and runner-up accolades in both the 1994 Stroke and Match Championships. After skipping the 1995 Colorado Women’s Open, Heffer claimed top honors in the 1996 Colorado Women’s State Match Play Championships, defeating former Cherry Creek teammate Leslie Buckley 13 and 12 in the 36-hole final. In her 52 holes for the tournament, Heffer was an incredible 10 under. Heffer returned to the Colorado Open in 1996 where she finished as the second-low amateur.
