2005-06 (Junior): Last season Ellis carded six scores for Colorado, with a season stroke average of 82.50.  She had a solid spring, playing three rounds at the MountainView Collegiate in Tucson where she finished 62nd.  There she shot 76-77-83?236, which gave her a spring average of 78.67, good for fifth on the team.  She also played in the Heather Far Memorial/CU Invitational in the fall, carding a 88-86-85?259.

2004-05 (Sophomore): Ellis was just the third transfer in Anne Kelly’s tenure and first since Erin Kerr in 2000. After playing two tournaments in the fall, Ellis more than doubled her rounds in the spring in five tournaments, including the Big 12 Championships. She carded a career best 81.89 strokes per average with all but five spring season rounds contributing to the team score. She opened her career at Colorado with a then-career best second round 77 in CU’s own Heather Farr Memorial for a 36-hole career best 44th place finish. She made the biggest first to second round leap of her career, as the sophomore was in 75th place after a MountainView Collegiate opening round 82, but shaved eight strokes off her second round score for a career low 74 to move up 17 places before finishing 64th.

At Iowa (2003-04): Ellis competed in the East/West Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz., while attending Iowa.

High School: Her Heritage High School Eagles were the 2000 Continental League and state champions Ellis’ freshman season when she had an 85 strokes per average. By her sophomore year she had shaved four strokes (81) and the Eagles repeated their conference championship. Ellis averaged a 77 as a junior, Heritage had a three-peat on the conference championship and she finished fifth in the state championships for all-state honors. Another team league title later, Ellis averaged a 78 as a senior, finished 10th in the state championships, took medalist honors at regionals and repeated her all-state recognition. She also played basketball (point guard for the 2000 state championship team) and soccer (midfield) at Heritage.

Other: She was one of the top 12 amateurs in the 2004 Colorado Women’s Open and finished eighth in stroke play the same summer.

Best Career Round In Competition: 73, Greeley Invitational, Boomerang Golf Course, Greeley, Colo.

In The Classroom: An honor roll student as a freshman and sophomore and member of the National Honor Society her junior and senior years of high school, she’s an architecture major at CU and would like to pursue a career in the field after college.

Personal: Jessica Lynne Ellis was born Feb. 28, 1985 in Littleton, Colo. She is the youngest daughter of Rick and Karen Ellis of Littleton. Her older sister Kristin attends Northern Colorado and she has a younger brother, Jimmy (11). Her hobbies include playing all sports, travelling, going to the movies, spending time with friends and skiing. She would like to live in Europe for at least a year and travel to as many places as she can.
